Fwiw, no they don’t. The very best players in the world don’t ever give themselves a chance tip go broke.  Most are sponsored and/or staked into every game they play.  Also most don’t play beyond their bank rolls.  I’ve been a winning player since I started playing in '02 (zero -%roi years.  If I can do it, they do too.

fwiw, i have played a lot of high stakes poker with the likes of Chan, Ivey, and Antonius.  perhaps there are some stories you are not privy to.  i guess zero roi over 9 years should be considered winning poker, as long as you are having fun.

I said no negative roi years.  If you must know I turn a modest profit.  I play in a game that consistently has 2 bracelet winners–they basically play for free if they want.  it’s no different for most.  The people going ‘broke’ are likely plopping down many thousands of dollars to play hours later.
