@crockett36 I have also concluded that whenever the dice are all coming up misses for 3 or more rounds, the attacker is eventually going to lose.
@crockett36 I’ll resign this. So a draw. 1 vs 1. Setup seems a bit off. Any thoughts?
@crockett36 It’s interesting, but it changes the feel of the game quite a bit.
Honestly after playing so much 1942 setup, I don’t see myself playing OOB again. I get that '42 takes away some of the options compared to box, but OOB feels fairly scripted with the J1 90% of the time too. And with fewer units in 1942 setup the game plays faster too. (Big plus!)
@Stucifer I understand. I do like it as a touchstone. I honor it as the foundation of everything else. I will always be willing to play it. It is the lingua franca for the normies to pick up the game. I think we should be able and willing to translate 42 or any variation back to the “masses” and the new players.
Funny, J1 is rather out of fashion in the games I play. I’m not in the running as a great player, but I wouldn’t agree that it is scripted on the allied side. Unsurprisingly, I find the German play monotonous.
All that being said, the lack of love 42 gets here is…silly. If you accept the victory conditions and the time limit, it is a wild ride of trying to maintain an edge all over the map. Really unique.
