    Can’t see a fault with owentoo’s uk start plan at the moment…losing egypt as allies last time against you cost me the game eventually. As it stands egypt is virtually impregnable and production can soon start in the ME

    Reposted for edit to NCM sub from sz96 > sz97. Italy can opened Novg for Germany. Regarding Vyborg, defending Finland would require putting all my fighters and TBs there, to offset the Russian air. The battle odds weren’t good and it wouldn’t advance anything. The best solution is: the best defense is a good offense. Germany will wipe out the Vyborg army using the entire Luftwaffe to support the army. All my planes will be out of position after the battle. But the allies have nothing to take advantage of that. The battle odds are 99%. I will have all my planes left and maybe 1 ground unit. But it’s not essential that I take possession of Vyborg. I will have 50 ground troops in E. Poland this coming turn. So I won’t need an Italian can opener next turn.

    What I meant was the allies had nothing to hit Germany with. Even if the German bombers were in W. Germany, there are too few to sink a U.S. fleet moving to sz91. However, if UK sank the Italian fleet, a German air attack on the remaining UK fleet probably would have sunk them. But that would have shrunk the Luftwaffe even more.

    @FMErwinRommel Yes I missed that option :white_frowning_face: Anticipated Italy clearing baltic states so was worried about a follow up army being caught out by german air and tanks. If I had moved to karelia instead the fighters from WG wouldn’t have reached which would have made it a much dicier proposition. Oh well…every mistake made is a lesson learnt I guess!

    Actually, the W. Ger fighters can reach Karelia via Norway. A&A’s irregular shaped territories make planning so much more complicated than hex maps.
