oh, you’re right. i totally forgot about the victory condition. this is too bad, since things are starting to get interesting on the western europe front.
yes, of course i would have taken normandy in that case. i just forgot that the game is over once moscow falls, cause u have 8 VC in europe. my plan was for us to take normandy and southern france, possibly even normandy.
with us pumping out 6 units in normandy/france each turn and uk shipping over another ~8 units each turn, you can’t hold northern italy, western germany AND france, all the while berlin being threatened by a 1-2 strike denmark->berlin. -

I made a big mistake with Russia in Novgorod. Other than that, I’m actually quite happy with my play. Maybe there would have been a way to hold Egypt a little longer, but the big german luftwaffe pressure made it hard for me to support egypt with transporters. i’m also a bit unsure about my india gameplan, but i think india cant do much more than just holding on.
with a solid russia play there would be ~60 inf now in moscow, denying you the win. and i think since japan will lose hold of the DEI now and italy getting convoyed in africa, i would have had a very good chance at winning. Well, it was a nice game, thank you very much for that. -

My strafe on your burma stack should have claimed 6 or 7! Then India was doomed! :P
I did find your naval play pretty good in the Pacific, but IMO you epic failed in the atlantic. Italy has been making +5 IPC’s a turn for the last 5 turns, for no allied ships in the med. And there has been no threat on my capital.
You should have built 2x airbases on Gib and Morocco, and then moved your navy into the med on the other side of Gib. Now I have to defend Egypt, Both sides of Italy, basically every zone in the mediterranen. and if you sneak some subs around, you’ll get Sz97.
This would have done me in. Instead… it was a mexican standoff and nothing happend.
Also… when you are ahead economically, that is the time to trade pieces, just attacking with your american fleet, even if you “lose” isn’t a bad move necessarily. Especially if you know you are still 30+ a turn, and the reinforcements you are sending is more than your opponent can muster.

You also could have moved to Liberate Egypt last turn. Build an AB on Malta, and move the yankee fleet up, and brit fleet as well right after. Now you have 5 transports in range of a lightly Egypt, AND my capital.

well yeah i could/should have moved in. although earlier i faced the danger of a one-two strike from italy+germany. i couldnt afford the risk of losing my fleet. but then again, with two airbases that risk could have been avoided.
maybe i focused too heavily on that whole normandy+southern france play. it worked out really well in other games - having two minor factories right next to germany with usa is super strong.
I still consider attacking, when you’re going to “lose” a bad decision, if you’re in front economically. you could just wait one or two more turns and you will win the battle with very few casualties.
