The counterattacks are generally good, but can be made a bit more economical. See attached version where I swapped a mech and an art for cheaper infantry. In general, I look at the total unit value swing with the following calculations:
- TUV swing from battle
- additional income from winning the territory
- additional damage I do from the required Axis counterattack
- benefit from requiring Axis to use air power to support counterattack
- chance of defensive miracle during counterattack that a lone Russian soldier obliterates a big Axis offensive.
5a) Surfer stalled the entire Axis force for a turn by destroying all of my Italian can openers in Rostov on critical Turn 4.

US needs transports and ftrs…Need 1 tran for Pac and 2 for Atl. 1 inf for Pac tran.
3-4 ftrs. Don’t see how we can buy a CV, since we already have 2 without any ftrs, but not certain what is best for pacific.Take Gibraltar back

Why do we have a US AA off Queensland? I always leave those in Hawaii for defense. Can’t really do much with AA in the DEI dance back and forth

US fleet in Atl wants to go to SZ92 to meet up with British…This does have a problem in that the transports cannot hang out in SZ91 because Italy takes Morocco, and then the Germans can come and sink our only real threat, 4 trannys.
So, stay SZ91. All US land forces go to Gib…no sense in losing them to the Italians. Brits buy Airbase and moves 3 ftrs to support. Should be in good position for next round.

I want to sink Italian fleet but for now I’ll just make subs and retreat surface units to SZ81. The Luftwaffe are just a pain. -

@crockett36. SZ 94 would be a +58 battle for the Axis, and SZ37 would be a +38 battle. You don’t want to have a ~100 TUV swing in one round as that throws away the entire bid.
Do you want your Atlantic fleets adjacent to Gibraltar with a UK airbase to protect the ships? Alternatively wait one more round to combine the US + UK fleets. The North African forces for Italy probably won’t be doing much this game and will eventually get killed at little cost to the Allies so don’t put too much attention into eliminating them this round.

I know this is more exotic, but it catches the Germans flatfooted. The gift of 6 does shut down Scandinavia for a couple of turns and then might pose a danger in 6 turns to Moscow.
I like the small navy combat. I’m trying to push J in naval spending and draw his planes away from Asia. J is desperately low on grounders. 55 is defensible if I block all sea vessels from attacking.
Why can’t an allied sub go through Gibraltar?

@crockett36 you need a strong force in the Middle East or Greece to take Turkey if you are going to do a Neutral Crush. That land bridge is the weak spot for both countries.
Definitely not ready to attack Spain yet.

SZ 91 is a good place for the American fleet this turn. Having airbases in Morocco and/or Gibraltar will be a big help for keeping the navies safe next turn.

SZ35’s attack would require the American fleet to move closer to pick up the planes? I think they would be annihilated if moved too close to E Asia as all of the planes can reach.

SZ44 is slightly losing TUV, although not too bad if you feel lucky. Perhaps one destroyer + one sub would be more likely to have a slightly positive TUV
