      Listened to audiobook on Thucydides’ History of Peloponnesian War. Has anyone played board game titled Hellenes: Campaigns of the Peloponnesian War? Would make a great multiplayer game. A&A has WWI, Napoleon, Punic 270 BC, variants, but not Peloponnesian Wars (Athens vs Sparta). Would be interested in working together with anyone willing to develop a Greek city state variant for this website.

      Yes its my game face to face with house rules.

      As far as Japan AA they had the good french guns on them from what I read.
      Plus for game play they all get it for now in game.

      I don’t want to probably ever make each country piece correct based on Historic so try to find the middle balance and not overwelm the group. We do have a bunch of other stuff in game to change each game some what and that’s plenty to remember.

      @FMErwinRommel Good find! As in Global “UK Pacific units” simply do not exist.
      By the rules “All combat moves, combat, and noncombat moves are made or conducted as any other power’s single, united force.”
      So the TripleA battle calculator seems to somehow “sort” those units depending on whether they are on the European side of the map or on the Pacific side of the map.

      Interestingly this does not occur with sea units. Those are correctly represented as being “British”, even on the Pacific side of the map.

      @redrum :

      In the attached savegame please use the BattleCalculator and look at SZ 37 and 39. The UK ships are correctly represented as “British”. The Infantry units in Malaya instead are incorrectly represented as “UK Pacific”, while they should be “British”, too. Switching to “British” sets everything to “Zero”. This is not exactly @FMErwinRommel 's scenario, but good enough to represent the issue.

      Exactly. This is why a victory in the SZ 37 battle was crucial. If the dice held true, I figured the US would come out of battle with 22 fighters, 2 tacs, and 4 bombers; 26 fighters if I sacrificed the 6 bombers; or possibly as many as 32 if the bombers and the attacking ships were sacrificed. This would have provided enough to protect the remaining fleet in SZ 41 against a German air strike from India. I built the airfield on Sumartra so that the great bulk of the US fighters could return to protect Iraq. But alas…

      I check through my AA posts and apparently the game just completed was our first game. Thought for sure it was our second. I will set up the rematch probably tomorrow morning with me as the Axis. After that we can decide what to do–flip to decide sides for a third game or not.

      Great game, you are a worthy opponent and I look forward to playing a new set in the new year. I was slowly, but steadily overtaking the Allies, until boom, you invaded the true neutrals and the Allies breathe new life and a serious threat. It was critical to stop the endless flow of troops to Spain. But I couldn’t get my subs close enough and air power alone would have to be overwhelming not to be too costly. I had to do it suddenly, so you couldn’t build more fighters for defense. So I repositioned my fighters to reach your fleet and built maximum bombers in one turn. I have to find a way for Euro Axis to threaten UK in the Med, without stalling the move on Russia.

      Ok, if anyone is interested, I’ve added this to the Canadian Mod. There are a lot of changes which I could go into, I expect it will be a bit like Balanced Mod in that early on Allies will have the edge but if it gets popular and people understand how to play it a bit more, Axis will start to win out.

      Anyone interested in playtesting? Tried one game against myself which the allies look like winning.

      Shin Ji used a J2 against me, and it was very effective. He also caught me off guard in Russia with his German invasion. I got out of position, and conceded the game fairly early.

      @FMErwinRommel Mmm…maybe…once the uk industrial base in ME is gone the UK mobile army would soon be worn down without reinforcements. Would be a long drawn out finish but Axis would triumph in the end. Pacific ocean battles finished any hope off.

      It’s been a week since I took my turn, so the game map was no longer familiar to me, since U.S. & UK had made dramatic moves. Had to reassess the whole European situation. Axis seem to be holding, their own, even though the Allies income continues to be far above the Axis. Brits have a massive ground force in Egypt, so the Italian army evacuated to Italy, while the going was good. Time to look for new growth opportunities in Southern Russia.

      Hey, no fair.  :-) Just when we trade sides, Bal Mod 3.3 says Allies were favored in Mod 2, so they changed N.O.s so that it’s more balanced, i.e., changes favor Axis.  Rus doesn’t get convoy N.O.s until R3 if you decide to attack earlier.  And Jpn gets a new 3 P.U. N.O. for Okinawa and Iwo when at war with U.S.  That’s a given.  I hadn’t heard about the upgrade until you mentioned it.  I upgraded my map, so 3.3 is it.

      I’ll have to try playing against him, ha.  Weather turned warm today and will remain warm thru the holiday weekend.  Going outside for a hike.  I learned enough from this game to have a better idea of what I want to do in our next game, and what to avoid, so it wasn’t worth trying to continue this game.  I’ll start up the new game this eve.
