Actually, I changed my mind and would like to also full scramble 113. Final answer 😜

11% chance Germany survives US’ turn!
I needed that good defense PLUS some AA shots!!

Looks like attacking France is actually a better % chance than defending Germany, even though I could get 2 armor and 2 fighters to Germany…

Hahaha! Story of this game. I’ll have to replay it to see what happened, but I remember a huge setback attacking India or Australia. Those last 2 rolls were absolutely ridiculous.
But that is not to take away from your tough game. It was like I was playing 2 different people, between the first game and this one. Good game - it’s not your fault the dice were stupid the whole game. As you said, with the way the dice are going you’re about afraid to try 99% odds on my capitals (although you went ahead anyway). Your impatience could have been your undoing, but the France dice delivered you.
Wait, let’s make sure you don’t completely whiff too

That’s what I’m talking about. Murder. Some games are impossible to win.
Maybe we’ll play again some day. Have a great Thanksgiving. -
:-o Wow. Brutal.
Thanks for the game. It was fun, well except for the dice. That always takes something away win or lose.
You’re right, you took a bit of a hit in Ind. I think my Def cleared you out. You had a decent J1, I think, but in rd 2 I got the breathing room I needed.
Yeah, I’ll be the first to say my game has improved A LOT. I didn’t play much in 2010. Infact I don’t think I played in maybe the last 6-7 months of 2010. So much of this year I spent taking my lumps and getting back into the swing and also finding the correct bid and placements that work (or at least work for me). I also learned to play a much more aggressive Russia and if given the opportunity (even through dice) to press Germany early if you can. Then of course finding the balance for the US took some games too. I’m on a decent run too with recent wins over JWW and Zhuk at the end of last year as well as couple good games against LL, although I’m catching some great dice in those.
I’d always be up for another one, perhaps later in the year though, once our schedules lighten up. I know you have tourney games, as well as the league finals coming up. Good luck in those!
Thanks again for the game.

Yes, thank you for that message. Yes, the playoff games that must take priority really slowed me down.
I didn’t mean to communicate that the loss wasn’t my fault - clearly the German fleet backfired big time that game. I need to go back and review this one to try and catch some of my errors, though. Sometimes my Germany or Japan fold up with dizzying speed, and there have got to be some lessons there for me that I can glean from careful review.
Yes, I noticed you have been racking up some wins against high quality competition, which is how I thought that yes you had improved a lot over the middle of this year.
The Italians took me for a ride there in France - after the opening 2 rolls I thought they were going to pull the huge upset. But then, as it usually does with the Italians, the other foot dropped.

clearly the German fleet backfired big time that game.
I was going to ask about this. I know you typically buy (or it seems that way) an AC with Ger, but the “extra” ships caught me a bit by surprise. I was okay with UK basically trading inf with Ger (if we were fighting over Nor/Fin) b/c I knew I’d be moving aggressively with Russia, so I felt if UK could kill the troops or tie up some of the German income it would help out my push to Epl with Russia. I don’t remember what lead to me being able to go to Bul then Blk, but I felt if I could get Russia into Epl, I’d worry about the German fleet later. Just had to make sure you couldn’t sink my fleet or sail out to sz 7/12 or something.
Africa was another issue, but since it went mostly to Italy, I felt I could put it off as long as I was making gains in Europe and more specifically gains against Germany. -
-
Yes, I don’t like to give up the German fleet with only a 50% chance of the UK losing a single fighter, so I almost always buy a carrier to avoid giving away Norway and Finland and Karelia for the first few rounds at least. Sometimes I escalate the fleet, if I feel I can keep ahead of the UK (esp if US is not coming), because I think it’s worth it to make the UK buy more ships and prevent them from taking Scandinavia uncontested. Not to mention the incessant poundings on anything in France, NWE, Germany, Poland, Baltic States, Karelia, Archangel, Finland, and Norway!
However, this strategy requires that the increased air power and decreased ground forces can hold the Russians back, but you were able to advance faster than I had anticipated. I will have to review the game to see how it all happened. But at the same time as this game, Lucky actually went heavy towards Japan and conceded the Atlantic completely, after I built up the German fleet. The Germans and Italians are doing great, but he has made big and fast gains against Japan, and it appears he will get to Japan faster than I can get to Russia.
What I’m saying is, it looks like 2 games where I built German ships which seemed like a good idea at the time, but this strategy apparently is very risky. I still wouldn’t say it’s always a bad idea (as a lot of players would say) until I re-play these 2 games. Obviously, it’s worked for me many times before or I wouldn’t be doing it.

Yeah, it definitely has its upside (protecting the fleet that is). Threatening Kar alone is nice threat since it is a 5 NO for Ger. Definitely a pain in the butt for the Allies to deal with all the landing spots.
I’m afraid to go G1 navy, I always feel I’ll miss the ground troops, but then again, I’m not sure if Germany is my best country.
-
After a year of preferring the Axis (and getting them every single time), I’m starting to like the Allies’ chances again. Especially because of this game, my game with Lucky, and my tournament game with JWW.
But yeah, I think the 14 IPC investment in a carrier on G1 is usually worth it, to prevent the Allies from just mowing down the cruiser and transport and then transporting at will….
