AAPacific Open Challenge
-
I think AAPacific is an underplayed, underappreciated member of the A&A family. In an attempt to revive this dying game, I am issuing an open challenge to anyone for games of AAPacific. These would be PBEM games hosted by either Days of Infamy or Flames of Europe depending on your preference. I would use any bidding system my opponent and I could agree on.
I hope there are still a few AAPacific players out there who will take up this challenge.

Being new to the internet end of it I have to ask what is PBEM and the other things you mentioned?
-
PBEM is Play by email. It is the way to play the game without being face to face (FTF).
Days of Infamy (DOI) is a PBEM Axis & Allies Pacific club and it’s website can be found here: http://www.rjware.net/DOI/club-headquarters.htm
Here is DOI’s player’s guide which provides detailed instructions on how to play a game by email: http://www.rjware.net/DOI/DOI_HowToPlay.htm
And here’s a definitive guide on substalling, a key tactic in AAP: http://www.rjware.net/DOI/substall/index.htm
Finally, here is DOI’s message board - hosted by Wargamers Club: http://p201.ezboard.com/fwargamersclubfrm7
FOE is Flames of Europe which is another PBEM A&A club. In addition to AAPacific, you can play many other games including other versions of A&A. FOE’s website is here: http://www.flames-of-europe.de/index.php
Both DOI and FOE are free to join.

Thanks, I actually figured out what PBEM meant after a second!! I’ll check out some of those other sights and maybe have a game with you some day. Bit busy at the moment, but usually not a problem to get a turn done.
-
OK, let me know when you’re ready to start a game. Pace of play doesn’t really matter too much. One turn a week is fine.

Right on. I’ll let you know. I have to do some downloading I guess. But while sitting here in an isolated camp awaiting the other guy who was going to play to return to camp, I drew up the entire gameboard in a program we use called Mapinfo. I just did it to be able to save the game in case I needed the table for something else, but would also be useful if moving around with it. So I don’t actually need a board to play especially by email, (but I will download the Mapview). I just type in what units are in each place, change them easily when turns end, can change the colour coding or borders of territories to indicate ownership, etc. The dice simulator is a nice idea, although the link at DOI goes somewhere else. So have to sort that out.

Sakaisan:
would you like to challenge somebody on this site and post the turns as we do with our tournaments. I feel if you can find another top player the creative strategy you employ could be a good teaching tool for part time AA pacific players. This may also serve to revive the game.
-
I would be willing to do that. I would prefer to use a roller other than the one on this site but that shouldn’t be a problem. Rolls of Infamy (the Days of Infamy roller) can be used without an official DOI game number and we can post the turn summaries at the end of each turn.
Anyone interested in a game? I won’t be able to start until Monday, but will play against whomever is willing.

You can always send an IPC bid my way SS! I’ve got a new Allied purchasing strategy that I’m itching to test out…

Ive never seen an actual game of A&A Pacific, so if you guys can, play on this forum using abattlemap. Id love to keep “spectate” the game and see how the game is played. All that you guys would have to do is upload your abattlemap file save or send it to me via e-mail. If it isnt too much of a bother of course. :-)
