Yeah, this was probably the decision. I was really scared of this attack.
It was your last chance for victory anyways, though, you had to attack now. Next round even more British units would have been there to defend.
Even if you would have taken Moscow, I could have taken Poland and/or Novgorod to get one more round. Maybe Novgorod would have been a way for me to come back then. But it would have been super, super close then.
