Bad day of A&A for me!
Karl took me out on a RAZOR THIN margin in 1940!I have France making 20+, ANZ making 15, USA making 80, UK making 50, and Russia still alive with a big stack that he still can’t take over. Germany is facing serious heat from the West, North, and South. Italy is turtled to nothing and earning 2 IPC’s per turn. And I lose. Because Japan took over Phillipines, Hong Kong, India, and Hawaii and I can’t take any of them back this round.
Bleah. :-P
Amazing game - wrong ending. Although it’s really hard to get 6 cities with Japan, and he barely barely did. And it was basically my first full game and I was playing the league leader in 1940.
But wow, it’s tough to have to quit playing a game and take a loss when you would probably win under normal victory conditions. I never even lost a major capital, not even temporarily!
Guess I learned to go a little heavier on Japan in the future and not let them beat you. Course you also saw that disastrous Z46 sea battle - that had a lot to do with it too.

Well, that’s the beauty of attacking, I guess. If you have an abyssmal round, you can usually pull out and stop the bleeding. If it happens on defense, of course, they will polish you off with very few losses against your army that has been badly depleted in round 1…
And at least if you’re used to such bad dice, you go into battles half expecting it to happen. When it’s someone charmed like me, I don’t often have an exit strategy or plan B if I got shot to hell like I did here. Luckily this time I was OK, but Russia’s going to be a LOT harder now.

Aagh! Brutalized in return, and the Germans are so under control the reds are moving East, with an Empire stretching from Norway to Yunnan/Burma! :-o
North Africa’s firmly under control, the Italian fleet will soon be history, and there’s a massive fleet off California. It’s looking grim. Oh, and the Italians are fighting way better than the Germans. Wayyy better.

I’m not sure about one tank because you combat moved 3 into Ukraine but only rolled 2. You forgot the map. I can go ahead with Japan anyway, but let me know where that tank is.
