@vodot Makes sense.
Axis & Allies free carrier templates (all nations)
-
Hi. I just came here to post my templates i created in order to customize carriers.
I was really frustrated when creating these, because I hoped that someone in this community would have already made a template for customization.
I was wrong.
So that everyone of you can create your own custom carriers (yay) and doesn’t have to go through the same annoying process I provided you with
1. a pdf with the templates + the customizations i created A&A_Carrier.pdf
2. a transparent template of all carrier ship types so you can create your own!
Make sure that the printer scaling is at a 100%. I recommend using sticker paper. The templates should be in the correct size already. They are not perfect but my boyfriend and I really like them. I hope you will too <3.If you use my customizations for content (youtube, etc.) please refer to me. I have an instagram account for art and would really appreciate it @lilly.art
Note: Yes, the french one is a joke lol

Hi @Lilkovski, welcome to the forum!
Thanks for posting these, your carriers look great! I will give them a try and post some results (EDIT: Results below!). Posting a blank template is always helpful for others who want to remix or continue the work.
There have been many carrier flight deck decal discussions here over the years, some of them containing artwork that is free for personal use and most of which is probably able to be relatively quickly reworked in GIMP etc. to arrive at blank templates, although the dimensions of these is always a topic for conversation and disagreement as the sculpts vary sometimes significantly from the actual historical ships.
Here’s a popular flight deck thread from @dedo from years ago with discussion, artwork, templates, and resources that you or others might find useful; additionally here’s @cyanight’s well-known carrier decal thread with some of his decals about halfway down the first page.
I actually used a still a third(!) image file/source for my own flight deck decals, but I am not going to post that source until I find where it came from so that I can confirm public use and give proper attribution.
Happy decaling!

Hey, you never know :)

Here’s a couple tweaks, since I can hear the imagined rebuke of Charles de Gaulle ringing in my ears, “On ne plaisante pas avec la France!” This artwork practically begs for an equally humorous House Rule:
Glorieuse France
If France ever has 3 Aircraft Carriers in play, the game is over immediately and France (not the Allies) shall be declared the sole winner.Full file with humorless French Carriers:

@vodot This is very funny.

@vodot Your Joke I mean.

@FranceNeedsMorePower I thought of you and your username :)

@vodot You know the French actually had one aircraft carrier in ww2 and one work in progress,
- Béarn –
Originally laid down as a Normandie-class battleship after WWI, but converted into an aircraft carrier in the 1920s.
By WWII she was quite outdated: slow (about 21 knots), poorly armored, and not capable of operating modern aircraft effectively.
At the start of the war she mostly ferried aircraft rather than conducting carrier operations.
After the fall of France in 1940, she went to Martinique in the Caribbean and stayed neutral under Vichy control until 1943, when she joined the Free French.
J2. offre-class carriers –
Planned modern fleet carriers (two ordered: Joffre and Painlevé) intended to give France a competitive naval aviation capability.
Construction began before WWII, but Joffre was only about 25% complete by 1940. Both were canceled after the German invasion.

@FranceNeedsMorePower
I should sculpt up the Bearn-class carrier for my etsy store -
@vodot YES! I really want a full set of actual French Sculpts not just Blue Russian Sculpts.
It’s actually kinda in interesting story what happened to the carrier:
Why Béarn went there: After France’s defeat, Béarn sailed across the Atlantic carrying military aircraft (including U.S.-built planes purchased before the war) and gold from the French treasury. She stopped in Martinique rather than risk capture by the British or Germans.
What happened then: From mid-1940 to 1943, Béarn stayed in Fort-de-France harbor with her cargo. The U.S. monitored her closely, worried the gold and aircraft could be used by Axis forces. She didn’t join combat again until 1943, when she switched to the Free French side.

aaaaaand one more: the great, the impossible, the terrifyingly and impractically over-gunned Project Kostromitinov! These pieces were included in AA41, and are largest A&A sculpts in any edition of the game, ever. Let’s get one on the table!
Time for another goofy house rule.
Проект Костромитинов
If the copy of the game being played includes the Kostromitinov sculpt as the Soviet Aircraft Carrier, and if Karelia is USSR-controlled, then after each COLLECT INCOME phase of the USSR turn that player may set aside 6 IPCs. If he does, place one Kostromitinov Heavy Carrier on its side (under construction) in Karelia (not in the adjacent Sea Zone). Only one such carrier may be under construction at a time. As long as it is under construction, this piece remains on the board in Karelia (even if captured) and has no effect on the game.Each turn that ends with Karelia under USSR control the USSR player may set aside a further 6 IPCs. When 18 IPCs have been set aside in this way, immediately launch the completed Kostromitinov from Karelia into the adjacent Sea Zone.
The Kostromitinov Heavy Carrier has the following stats: A2/D3/M2. Requires 2 Hits to Destroy. May carry up to 3 fighters/tactical bombers in any combination.
