Ugh. I forgot that the ballistas had no defense (Pella) and could have been taken as casualties. I would think you would have wanted them for an attack, so I moved those casualties over to the spearmen (where the other casualties were taken) and left a calvary. I would have asked for an OOL had I realized that.
So, if you would like to replace a few units or something there let me know (or change the units left) and if we need to roll for a few extra dice for casualties we can do it on the boards here. In other words, if you want to keep 6 velites instead of the ballistas then we can roll those dice here and you can pull off casualties. Or let me know if you have other ideas.
So sorry again – I forget that all of the nations here have some very different units!
Of course, if you wanted to keep the ballistas then maybe all of this is a moot point… my plan was to hit and retreat either way.
-
or maybe just count up the pips in the differential, whatever works there.
-
Okay, here was the result:
Casualties for RomanRepublic: 24 cavalrys and 3 velitess
Casualties for Macedonia: 9 peltastssSo I guess there would really only be 3 velites in question, and the other 3 would be calvary.

Oh geez. Yeah really didn’t go with the right order there at all as I’d prefer max defense to kill as many Macedonian units as possible to either make you retreat sooner or kill more off so Greeks can counterattack. Should have just kept with the engine defaults probably so:
Balista
Cavalry
Velites
LegionsUntil potentially the last round where might choose to keep more expensive units.
Not sure the best way to move forward here.
-
Okay, so the first roll would be completely unaffected. So, what would matter would be the defensive dice on the second roll. So, instead of taking 3 velites and 3 calvary as casualties, it should have been 6 ballistas. So, you were cheated out of 3 dice at a 2 and 3 dice at a one for your second roll (the second attacking roll is completely unaffected). That is 9 pips which is a unit and a half. I would be willing to double that due to my screw-up (and potential variance) and say that you could take off 3 peltasts from Thessalonica and you can replace the 6 ballistas with your 3 velites and 3 calvary.
If you would rather roll for the 6 units instead of taking off 3 casualties for me just let me know and we can roll those on the forum and make a quick edit.
