    no, gamer is TRADITIONALLY more fortunate than average on tech rolls.  he is “charmed” as you might say, which is why i would NEVER play him in a tech game.

    He’s right.

    But I have spent more than you probably think.  I have spent 35 IPC’s on 7 dice and got 2 hits.  That’s above average, but not a whole lot.

    Upper 33%ile where 50% is the median.

    Bold has experienced much higher success rates from me than that in the past, and at the worst possible moments.  Consider yourself lucky so far.  :-)

  • Put another way, with any LESS success, I would be UNLUCKY.  1 hit in 7 tries is of course not lucky.  So I have to be either above or below average right now.  Sorry, but I’m above.

    granted, tech certainly has a much diminished effect in G40 compared to AA50, but still, there is already so much more strategy in G40 that i have not yet had the slightest desire to add tech to the mix.

    USA Shipyards and LRA are right up there too.  I wouldn’t call them THE key techs  :-)

    What about British rockets or paratroopers?  Now THOSE would KILL
    I still haven’t recouped the 15 I’ve spend with the UK on shipyards yet.  Quit yer whinin’ and play!!  :wink:

  • Look at the situation in Siberia, Bold.

    If I hadn’t attacked Korea on R1 and if he attacked Amur on J1, I wouldn’t be able to stop him in Siberia right now like I am.
    He could just go right around me.

    Now maybe I should have retreated full bore toward Moscow and not stopped, but even then it’s good to have the bottleneck up there.  He could go north from China or south to China at will, and flank me easily.  Not to mention that air could freely pass over Mongolia.

    No, I’m still sure the attack on Korea R1 is definitely the move to make.  At least for me :)
