  • @VictoryFirst i agree that the mine issue will be problematic. I believe if you can solve it with the “two boarders” solution, it would be worth it. As for the time it would take: I will do the ‘how to video’ with the next version of africa. when/if you finish the mines update, we will simply update the download links. to that end, i will mention in the video that there is work being done to make the mines work better.

    that’s how i feel about it anyway. also, we need to work out how we can direct folks to donate. should you send me a link?

    Thanks! Your opinion is very valuable. I will upload version 1.5 with some small fixes (adding the connection between Malta Convoy and Malta, and explaining how to deal with the mines in the game notes) and then reserve version 1.6 for a complete rework of the border territories.

    That way, if version 1.6 takes too long, you can use version 1.5 to record your video. Version 1.5’s clunky part would only be the land mines so it is still good enough to cover the rest of the module.

    Good you mention the donations. I did some research and figured out how to set up donations via PayPal. I will share the link with you via Discord. Anyone can click on it and will be directed to a page where they can donate any amount to me.

    Also, I think the last things we need are automatic victory conditions and a Torch scenario, I will leave that for version 1.7. You can also mention this in the video.

    Actually, if we use the GitHub link, the download links wouldn’t need to be updated. The GitHub link always stays the same. You just need to let people know that there is a newer version and then direct them to the GitHub repository.

    I will still ask if we can get the module downloadable via TripleA though, that will by far be the easiest way. It could be susceptible to copyright infringements because some things of the OOB game are exactly copied, like the unit names, the map, the supply, and the naval sillhouettes. But Renegade games might be not as strict as Hasbro!

    I forgot that air units count against the stacking limits. Knowing this, I would not have bought an AA gun for Malta on round 3 because that means I can have one less fighter there.

    For simplicity, let’s just say I bought an infantry from that money and placed it in Atlantic Ocean Convoy.

    This turn I bought a bomber and a fighter and placed them in Malta Convoy. Right now, they don’t violate any stacking limits but once it is my next turn, all planes need to land and the only spot for them to land is Malta, and I can only land three planes there. So I will instead purchase a bomber, a scout car and a submarine. I will place the bomber and scout car in Atlantic Ocean Convoy and the submarine in SZ 3

    This is quite funny - the unit is called “sherman” but TripleA apparently has an in-built plural feature where it creates plural forms of words on its own. As far as I know, it simply adds and “-s” to all words except for the word “infantry”, because the plural of “infantry” is also “infantry”. But if you change the word “infantry” slightly, it does add an “-s” again (“mech_infantrys”).

    But for “sherman”, it detects the word “man” in it and its plural is “men”, so it turns this word into “shermen” instead of “shermans”. This is most likely an error in whatever code deals with this.

    You are crossing the land mine in BIR-SIW, which is now if I am not mistaken controlled by me because I am the only one having land units there.

    So first the mine should be detonated for before I should decide whether to stay or retreat (I choose to detonate the mine).

    Yep, in the end, what you just said works best (splitting the border territories into two). This makes it immediately clear in which territory the land mines are. Now it is pretty ambiguous.

    Let’s just play on for fun. I feel bad for taking advantage of your oversight, however in this case I don’t see an easy way to correct it. And we are mostly playing this game to test for bugs. We can always play more game after this on a more polished module and then you can take revenge on me 😁

    I will detonate the mine, however I will give you the possibility to your Italian turn, now that you know about the mines. Do you want to make any changes to your turn?
