    So for some reason I totally missed you could capture Anglo Sudan Egypt by just offloading an infantry there, lol. Sometimes I am amazed by my ability to miss things.

    I applaud you for beating me. There is no way to stop the lunge, which I did not expect at all. In my playtest the Axis got to 83 IPCs and it went downhill from then on. But the Axis can actually get to 84 IPCs and claim the win. Kinda mean lol. I don’t think the Axis can win the game long-term, but they do per the game rules. To me it feels like a sneaky win.

    I must say I have not played the Allies to the best of their ability in the beginning. I should have reinforced Russia sooner and built an IC in South Africa. And not buy two carriers and TOTALLY not let one get killed on round 4 xD

    Your G1 and J1 were the most effective I have ever seen, the TUV swing was massive. You got a very swift momentum that caught me off guard.

    Learned a lot this game. I never had the economic win come up in any of my games so this is a first. Hope to play you again in the current tournament!

    I’m afraid even if you stopped Egypt I could get 84. I could go East Africa. Not sneaky at all.

    I’m quite sure there is no way the Allies were going to win this game, it was not a sneaky win. I’d love to prove it, even though I have other games waiting on me, especially a semi-final playoff game that hasn’t even started. But I could be persuaded.

    I mean “sneaky” as in if there was no such thing as an economic victory, then the game would be an Allied win. There are indeed a lot of ways for you to get to 84 and beyond, and probably also next turn, which makes you win the game. It just felt to me as if the game shouldn’t be over at his point, that the Allies still have a fighting chance. Or was that also what you meant? I’d love to play on if you want. As if there is no Economic Victory.

    Well, I would if I had time. Honest.

    The thing is, there IS such a thing as economic victory and it’s a big part of the game and affects both players strategy, unless 1 player forgot about it - then it affects 1 player’s strategy.

    I haven’t talked to him at all, so no influence, but you could ask the_Good_Captain to take a look and see what he thinks if you’re curious and if it’s bugging you. He’s way more experienced with Classic than I am.


  • @gamerman01 Alrighty. So yeah, I need to remember to watch out for the Economic Victory. You are right, from the point where I abandoned the game, there was already no good way to stop the lunge. I have a bit too few units in key areas. Maybe it is possible with some weird distribution of forces like with a bunch of UK fighters but that would be quite disadvantageous to my position. My first real loss as the Allies! I hope the rematch will be soon 😁
