What will be wrong with AAAE: 1940?

  • but pacific is outrageous!
they have never even played 1 or 2 rounds if you ask me!!!
mean, US income goes above 55 in war-economy, and the cardboard only goes to 48!
too few tactical bombers at set-up for japan, only 6 subs for US
    incredible

What this means to me is that they did not have any playtesters besides the designers. The designers would not notice how bad the rulebook was written because they never had to refer to it. The designers also had access to an unlimited amount of playing pieces so they didn’t try and play the game with the lack of pieces that we have. Larry is a good game designer, but whoever is in control of everything else sucks and if they were working for me, they would all be fired. You would think in this economy that their employees would be a little more on top of their game.

  • Wow!! I would have thought that the release date got moved back or something as hostile as this group is. So maybe its not perfect. There is no way in hell they could have maid everyone in this forum happy. We’ll all buy both games (at least one copy each) we’ll play it a bunch of times for years to come. We’ll check the Errata weakly, and tweak it to fit what we want. The map/board seems to be done right, and that’s the important part.  The rest will fall into place. Damn you sound like a bunch of little bitches get over yourselves, it is what it is.

Ok here comes all the Karma.

  • Oh by the way who ever uses the production chart any way!

I’m glad you’re happy. Next time I got some crap to unload, I know who to call. And I actually applauded you, not smited you, because you at least have the nads to say what you think.

  • What kind of thread is this ?

We will all be satisfied with AAEurope 40, and you all know that. If you are not satisficed you can just by World at War from Xenon Games, or Attack! from Eagle Games.

  • Hey do either of those games have AB or NB, I know WOW has major and minor IC. See WOTC has now help its limited competition by not including plastic sculpts, they are so thoughtful (or thoughtless).

A&A is still the best, but it could be a whole  lot better.

  • face it, best thing about AAA is the concept.

  • @Frontovik:

I said that somewhere, so I definitely agree with you on that statement.

  • What will be wrong with A&AE: 1940? It is pretty obvious that the United States will start the game being at war with France and France will receive 20 Mech Inf while Germany receives 3 Mech Inf. The Soviets will have 15 of each naval ship and only 5 Infantry. Also the map will actually be Europe’s political borders during WWI.

  • Well I can imagine the tech system will have some flaws, seeing as they delved away from it for a whole game, thus becoming rusty. Germany will surely be short mech infantry (although they can confiscate Frances when they take her out of the game lol). Honestly I think you guys are missing the scariest part. The NEXT game is when it is going to go to hell in a hand basket. I figure the next axis and allies will have no plastic pieces with only cardboard tokens, but we may get lucky i guess as this cost reduction may allow them to add the paper money back in. Or to throw us for a loop an abbacus.

Well, if we’re honest with ourselves, if WOTC produces the next game, chances are they’ll charge MORE for the version that has all cardboard tokens then they charged us for the ones with the nice plastic playing pieces.  But, if this turns out to be the case, FMG will end up with plenty of business from disgruntled fans buying up scores of their sets of plastic pieces for the game.  :-P

  • Honestly, if there are any big flaws (map drawn poorly as is the current case wth P40, not enough pieces, crappy boxes, etc) I will just never buy another set. After this I will have revised, 50th, P40/E40, d-day, and battle of the bulge. I should be set for that type of game and can move 100% to fantasy flight who make games that are good, seem to be correct out of the box most of the time, and have real support.

Yeah, Fantasy Flight Games would make a great A&A type game. I wonder why they haven’t.

  • @fuglunkx:

Also the map will actually be Europe’s political borders during WWI.

Actually, It will be the political borders of sometime between 780 and 800. The game starts with only the Byzantines at war with the Arabs. After three turns, if Bulgaria is still neutral, it automatically declares war on Constantinople. Also on the third turn, the U.S. enters the war on the Byzantines’ side. Up until that point, it can lend-lease Greek Fire and dromonds, but only up to fifteen IPC’s worth of each.

Dude, this was reply #42 not 4:20. Maybe you should check out Warlords of Europe.

  • I think you have the wrong forum.

  • This thread is one more stupid post from getting closed down. I think the original intent was comedy or sarcasm, then it became a free for all.

Either make it useful or forget it.

  • I am just hoping that at least the rulebook is better and there are no typos. I don’t think they will improve anything else.
