      @Tutti Thanks for reading.

      The original post addresses purchases after the US enters the war, once its industrial complexes have been upgraded and income is augmented by National Objective bonuses. Thus, “USA1” refers to America’s second turn after entering the war, which would be the first turn they have ~70 IPC to spend. Up to that point, my recommendation is to make those necessary “security” purchases - carriers, destroyers, aircraft, etc.

      I understand your aversion to buying ground troops, only to have them sit for a turn while you buy transports the next. When the US is at war, you can certainly do several turns of 5x5x5 buys (5 infantry, 5 artillery, 5 transports for 70 IPC). I’ve done this many times, myself. If your goal is to assemble an invasion force - a force large enough to make a successful amphibious assault and survive an enemy counterattack - the 5x5x5 system will work just as well as the (10x10)+10 purchases I detailed, but only in the Atlantic. Because the US only has one IC on the Pacific, the (10x10) +10 is still the most efficient method of assembling a force to invade Japan.

      As for the troops America starts the game with…they can easily be incorporated into your invasion forces, but I usually have other uses for them. To give just three examples: 1) I use the Atlantic transport to activate Brazil and shuttle the Brazilian infantry to Gibraltar or Morocco, 2) The American armor and mech infantry, when parked in the Western US, can deter Japan from invading Alaska, and 3) As soon as the US enters the war, I like to use the transport off Hawaii to capture the Marshall Islands. If the Japanese don’t have carriers within striking distance of Hawaii, taking the Marshalls eliminates the threat from Japan-based strategic bombers, allowing you to safely move undefended transports to Hawaii.

      The daughter of Captain Hans Langsdorff will travel to her father’s grave in Buenos Aires next month, marking the 80th anniversary of his death and the scuttling of the Graf Spee. She’ll be accompanied by the descendants of some of the 1,000 German sailors who served on the ship.

      I would have it where each retreating transport would roll 1 d6 each and if a 3 or less is rolled then the transport can retreat 1 sz and off load it’s cargo if possible. At least this is the middle ground on this discussion plus a transport may survive if trannys are split away too.

      @Caesar-Seriona said in Dutch Neutrality Question:

      Because the creators thought it was enough to put their colonies in but not count it as an independent faction hence why you can’t liberate their homeland because it’s marked as German Grey and how it lacks units, income, and turn. So they make it under this stupid exile in govern status.

      Sorry, I don’t get that in the context of an argumentation for your previous statement:

      @Caesar-Seriona said in Dutch Neutrality Question:

      The game actually treats Japan already at war with the Dutch on turn 0.

      As clearly stated by the rules Japan starts the game being at war with China only.
      There is no state of war between Japan and the Netherlands.

      In order to attack Dutch colonies Japan needs to establish a state of war with UK/ANZAC instead.

      Rulebook Pacific 1940.2, page 37:

      Japan may attack Dutch territories only if a state of war exists between it and the United Kingdom and ANZAC.

      This is my fifth year to run a 12-team, semi-keeper league. We’re looking for new owner/GMs for three teams. Here’s what you’ll want to know:

      Starting lineups are: 3 LW - 3 C - 3 RW - 4 D - 2 G. Bench is 4 players of any denomination. You may keep a maximum of 4 F, 2 D and 1 G. It’s a head-to-head league. Top 3 in each 6-team division make the playoffs. Dues are $25USD. Payout is: 1st - $175  2nd - $100  3rd - $25 Players on the available teams include: Matthews, Tavares, Eichel, Laine, Marchand, P.Kane, Panarin, Hellebuyck, Price, Dubnyk and many more. Online draft is set for 8:00pm Central on 2 October. Keepers must be set by 1 October.

      Let me know here if you’re interested. Teams will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.

      The Triplea java-based game has an option for “Honorable Victory” here either side wins if it has attained a certain amount of VC’s by end of a round. The Default I believe is 14. The games I’ve played against the (so-called) “Hard-AI” have all been won on this rule. The Axis have clearly lost at this point and I don’t have to go the extra hours necessary to achieve the OOB Victory Conditions. I’d suggest this added rule as it doesn’t change any of the other gameplay.

      No Tiger Pilot was active US military because the Tigers were replacing the Soviet Pilots before Pearl Harbor so they didn’t want to give Japan direct evidence of an act of war.

      @Ozymandiac:

      @Caesar:

      Mine expands it farther, you can scramble aircraft to any territory it can legally reach .

      And move back again to the original airbase? (2 steps to contested zone and 2 steps to move back)

      Basically yes but I thought about doing a rule where it can scramble to another airbase.

      If you’re ever in the Tampa, FL area, take a couple of hours to visit the S.S. American Victory. Built in 55 days and launched in 1945, she hauled military cargo to the Philippines and China during WWII, and also served in Korea and Vietnam. She’s a floating museum and training ship for first responders now. The American Victory is one of three remaining Victory ships. Well worth the time!
