Here’s a simple way, IMO, to even out the game without bids - remove the destroyer in SZ15. Thoughts?

  • Does that help Germany TOO much?  Now the German BB can go into SZ13 (not needed in SZ15) after the UK BB
I think no UK DD makes the battle of the Med too easy for Germany…

Well how often does the UK Dst even do anything?
I think it would be fair because since there is no bid Germany now has to use their Med Fleet to take Egypt so there is no way the Dst would’ve survived that game anyway.

Edit: If that makes sense to anyone

Exactly - it frees up a few German figs and the Med fleet. In return, Japan doesn’t have as many first-turn options.

Now I have only played two games so far but at this point I don’t see a reason for an Axis bid.

In both games the Axis won by Major Victory (10 cities).

I suspect play balance is less of an issue compared to player skill.

I like it.  Germany is more free, but they can’t just get away with putting a transport in SZ 15 without cover because England can hit it with a Fighter and a Bomber if they want too.
