    I could probably hold Rome by strafing Northern Italy for one round with all possible German forces (including Denmark mech).

    However, since the Americans can build an airbase in Northern Italy and boost the UK air range, I see no way to hold both Cairo and Rome.

    The Axis surrender.

  • yeah I think I would have eventually been able to grind out the win unless you finished off russia without much losses…

    my aim was for egypt but losing rome might have been worse if you tried to hold egypt.  if egypt fell I don’t think you ever could have taken it back and hence any vc win would have been impossible.

    I know it’s tough since you had to divert everything to threaten finishing off russia, but once us/uk lands, normally I try to grind out 20 land units each turn over there.

    this game was pretty close and one of the most epic games I’ve played in a while(usually my games go lopsided one way or the other).  thanks.

    What calculator are you using? Inputting the proper OOL in dskelly (Allies EDCFOB / Axis SEOCFP) does not return that result.

    4 is the lower end of average unless dskelly is wrong.

    I am using the graph which displays the probability of each outcome ranging from no casualties to complete annihilation (can be displayed as a pie or bar graph … pie’s easier to read for me).

    Can you explain how you get these charts? Is this a function of the battle calculator in tripleA?

    If you have any questions the following doesn’t address, shoot me a PM.

    1. Go to http://www.dskelly.com/misc/aa/aasim.html
    2. Switch the rule set box at the top from 50th Anniversary Rules to 1940 A3 Rules (combat values identical to Rev 2)
    3. Select the correct Battle Type (land, sea, amphibious assault)
    4. Type the number of each unit present, you can leave blank for zero
    5. Above the units types is row labelled Order of Loss. The bolded letter within each unit type is the code you need to enter (for example: e = carrier). Left to right equals first to last.
    6. Click Run Sim in the bottom left (this will give you some basic win % and IPC info)
    7. For expected casualties, click the Pie button after you click Run Sim. This will show the probability of each outcome (i.e. the % chance to survive with so many of each unit type), 1 graph for attackers and 1 graph for defenders.

    Notes:
    If you leave OOL blank dskelly will pick a default OOL. Their default OOL for sea battles is not the same as max defense or max offense, so in most cases where major fleets collide, I recommend manually entering OOL.
    I believe that dskelly automatically damages capitol ships first no matter what OOL you enter, so the OOL for capitol ships simply tells the program at what point you would like them to sink.
    If you check the must take territory box, it will assume that you save your last land unit as your last casualty.
    These values are only accurate for battles fought to the death.
