That could not have gone much worse….
Could too, I coulda taken the strategic bomber for a loss and left the carrier with 2 fighters on it for your counter attack.
Count your blessings I made a mistake. And yes, the dice were not exactly pleasant to you. I am more than aware that I am spending karma faster than I am earning it!
-
Uhm, what’s the deal with the loaded transport off the coast of Italy?
Kind of want to know where it is before France sinks it. Assuming you forgot to unload those units as well, and I want to get some Karma back!

They can’t be unloaded. They were unloaded into Greece, but I miserably lost the sz battle, so I had to retreat, and I can’t do anything about that. YES, I will scramble the italian fighter, HOPING I get lucky, so they might live, to die another day.

Wait a minute - I just thought of something - since the sz battle failed, they were actually never unloaded in Greece - it was just Triplea that wouldn’t let me put them anywhere, and I am too tired to pick up on such right now.
I think I would be able to unload them anyway don’t you think, since they actually never got off the transport in the battle?

How did your Greece battle go? I assume you had to attack the British fleet to get the transport there.
-
In order for me to use that trannie and unload in Greece, I had to win sz97, which I didn’t, so they never got in there, since the transport had to retreat back to where it came from. That is why Greece also went to the smithereens, since they suddenly attacked alone.
-
I think it is a glitch in Triplea, since they regard them as “unloaded” in greece, though they never even made it there.
-
If the transport was in combat, and I don’t see how it could have dropped troops off to attack Greece with the British Cruiser in one sea zone and the British carrier group in the other, and the battle failed in the sea zone, then yes, the troops are trapped on the transport - even though they never joined the battle in Greece.

Feel free to confirm with Gamerman or Krieghund, however. It IS, after all, my first game of 2013.

It’s one of those stupid little details that really doesn’t make much sense, especially after the transports no longer could take part in battle with any value as either roller/casualty.
Italy has been diced out… frustrating

Yes, I believe any hope for Italy to have their National Objectives is pretty much gone at this time. Unfortunately, I had assumed Italy would do far better in this game, and now have Russian units out of position, lol! (That and I was hardly expecting to have America in the war on round 1!) So you have that, at least. And Germany did do well in E. Poland, which is why those tanks were never counter attacked. It’s not much, but it’s something.
Unfortunately, the French were rather upset with you for taking Paris.
-
@Cmdr:
Just to clarify, if one was to attack a sea zone with the hopes of offloading transports for an amphibious attack, but is forced to retreat the transports because they lost the battle, the transports cannot unload their cargo in NCM, right?
I seem to recall that being the rule, but, as you know, I’m in my first game back and my first game for 2013! Not to mention, my first game of Second Edition….

That’s right - it has been that way since at least AA50
Alright, looking forward to seeing what, of the myriad of options the Germans have, the Germans do!
-
Even though bad dice caused it to be tricky and uphill for the European theatre, especially with Italy (I mean, how many times is a person supposed to miss on 4’s?) Germany will do as they did back then, assume responsibility and clean out the Allies.

Post a round later today.
