    With the max defense oriented OOL, the most likely outcome would leave the Allies with a damaged Battleship and a small group of planes (1-3).

    I expected to lose, but losing but this margin in a key battle (especially when the Allies chose a less defense oriented OOL) tips the game badly.

    Yeah, I think I eyeballed max defense at around 4 remaining US units on average. But, I knew that even if you had won, I still had 2 SS, 5 bmb to mop up anything you had left so I could afford to gamble a little with my losses.

    Even if Japan got lucky with a victory in SZ20, I planned to sink Battleships and save planes instead.

    I’ll keep going to see what happens in Europe if that’s what you prefer.  I’m skeptical at the moment though, because that battle was meant to help the European Axis as much or more than Japan.

    Even if Japan got lucky with a victory in SZ20, I planned to sink Battleships and save planes instead.

    I’ll keep going to see what happens in Europe if that’s what you prefer.  I’m skeptical at the moment though, because that battle was meant to help the European Axis as much or more than Japan.

    Seeing as how there is a very real possibility that Germany could take Volgograd and Moscow before I take Egypt to prevent the Axis VC win, I don’t think it’s a good idea to give up just yet.
