Congrats on beating one of the worst OSU teams in decades. :roll: A couple missed throws on Braxton’s part and that would’ve been another Buckeye win. I know I know, should’ve would’ve could’ve. And there were some close ones that OSU’s won over the past decade. But keep telling me you’re not worried about Braxton for the next couple of years. And same goes with Urban. I mean Braxton had 335 total offense to 337 from Robinson. I’m glad you got Hoke though and I’m glad that he’s righting that ship. Winning all those games under sweatervest was losing some luster against RR. Seriously, a stronger Michigan is great for the rivalry and great for the Big10. Lord knows the Big10 needs some more consistency and elite teams. OSU’s been it for a couple of years now and yeah. At least we have the Oregon win and voided Arky win to hang our hat on, better than sitting at home watching the bowls. :wink:
Yeah RR was THE worst coach in Michigan’s 100+ year history- literally. Can’t pat yourself on the back for those wins- neither can Sparty, but those wins over Lloyd Carr were quality wins. Reminded me of John Cooper and the 90s- could win all your games but your rival. We had it coming to us this past decade after dominating the 90s. That’s what makes the GAME the greatest rivalry in all sports.
I’m not worried at all about Urban. I don’t think he can cut corners like he did in Florida, nor do I think he can get those fast SEC recruits like he once did. That being said, I think he’ll be fine. I’m very excited about the Hoke-Urban rivalry. I think we’re going to see some of the best games ever in the next 10-12 years. Offense minded Urban vs. Defensive minded Hoke. We got some great games coming. As far as Braxton Miller…meh…we got our own versions…Shoelace, Devin Gardner, Shane Morris…+ we’re actually developing a defense after the horrid RR years. I can’t believe that guy actually got a job in Arizona…they’re crazy. :? And John L. Smith goes to Arkansas??? He sucks at Michigan State for years!!!
As far as Global, yes I would like to play again- I guess a regular one since you can’t play 3 games with one player in league unless you are tied 1-1. Our second game is interesting, but I’m not sure if Allies can hold there either.
As with MrGreen, I have also gotten wiser as I see the J1/G1, J2/G2 more. Its definitley tougher playing Allies, but I like the challenge. Axis is complicated in the beginning but after that its crush, crush, crush. Me and MrGreen are tied 1-1, both were quick games, I played Allies both times. The second time he hustled me with the J1 crush. I had to go back and research my mistakes. I love that “history” option- great for analysis.
Yes, I failed at Japan once also. Japan can be a monster, but you got to play them right or you get crushed. Now I realize this is where Cow’s Playbook comes in real handy. I actually think Japan is harder to play than Germany/Italy, but Japan definitely has the higher ceiling I think.
I do believe the community playing Allies is starting to “catch up” though. I see a lot of early Allied losses only to come back much stronger and make the game more even. There’s a lot of things I’m experimenting in my games, so it gets tough, but you learn and come back stronger.
Anyway yes, let’s do another game (non-league), I’ll be Allies again. I’ll set up the thread. Do the G1/J1 again. I’m gonna keep playing against that until I get a strategy honed down. Expect a tougher fight.
Oh one other question…you’ve been playing a lot of Axis, how well can you play Allies??? Do you ever play them???

I think 4/5 of my first games were as allies. Most of my recent games have been as axis because a couple people (you/mrg) wanted to see my G1/J1 and then wanted a 2nd crack at it. I just beat vance as allies but my only current allied game is in the tourney. If you want to start up a non league game with me as allies, I’ll play you. Just set it up and shoot me a link.

Don’t think that Urban’s going to be light on defense either. That’s actually one of his cornerstones is getting a fast D onto the field and swarming the other team. I unfortunately bore mute witness to his defense’s success a couple years back. And I’m sure you’ll see plenty of his D in the coming years. Oh and I suppose he cut corners at Utah and Bowling Green as well huh?
I forgot I just started another one as allies vs wheatbeer. I’m still up for another allied game if you want.

Yeah, I noticed you play with a substantial bid as Allies meaning you must think Allies have the advantage.

Well, if people are going to give me a bid I’m going to take it. That’s also another reason I usually end up as the axis, people bid high and I’m like of whatever that’s more then enough for me.

Yeah, looking at Cow’s playbook on Japan…finally learning to appreciate it. His Japan is a little complicated to play at first. Played it twice now…its coming along…definitely gotta practice it a few times. I’ll set up a thread later for another crack at the G1/J1 as Allies.

I honestly haven’t played live on triplea except once when it was a local game between me and a buddy and we didn’t have a board. I probably couldn’t sit through a whole game unless I planned it out ahead of time.
Tourney’s doing kind of bad. UK fell to sea lion because I sort of baited it, Taranto cleared with just fighter after I sent pretty much everything that could reach, China had rotten luck and lost their fighter right off the bat, but USSR’s income is pretty nice right now.
