@crockett36 Hard to tell how much of our loss was based on the setup vs our opponents simply being better. I’ll consult with @oysteilo before we open the bidding.

self bump so I can find it easier tomorrow. I’ll make a turn sometime mid/late afternoon when I get off work. Hope you enjoyed your weekend, mine was hectic!
-
No problem!
I had a great weekend with my family, but didn’t get much rest… it caught up to me today - feeling like crap, at home… but I can still order infantry forward and click the mouse
Whenever you make it back is fine, sir ~
-
Looking at the map, I don’t see me having a chance and I’m not in the mood to drag it out. I will surrender, I’ll post in the game results thread.
Rematch?
-
Hey Seth - I haven’t been around in a few days… a rematch would be great - did we agree to each take the Axis for a game and go back to back? If so, I’ll start one up, and let me know your bid, same as this one.
As far as this game goes, I truly feel it turned with great dice for me on the German/Russian front in a single battle. You were close to kicking in the door, and I had some luck when I needed it most. It turned the tide, and allowed me to get rooted into the north with US/UK. If you had been able to take Russia (which you would have), all bets were off.
-
I honestly can’t remember what we agreed upon earlier. I know I was offering and taking games with the switch, but I can’t recall if ours was one. I’m comfortable rebidding or simply switching sides, it depends on your call. My bid is sub in sz98 and arty in Amur if you just want to switch sides.
And yeah that battle was big. I think I also made some mistakes with continuing to try to batter on Moscow’s gates instead of just pulling up for a turn or two to rebuild. I was also playtesting a variant of a Jap strat. Unfortunately the 3 games I tried it out in all responded in similar (winning) fashion. So I think I have to go back to the drawing board with that as good players (such as yourself) will take too much advantage of it. Still good game and I’m hoping I’ll be able to even our series and turn around my recent losing streak. :-D
-
I checked my old messages and unfortunately I had cleaned out everything prior to May 9th and this game started on the 7th. So up to you on what you want to do for game 2.
-
I think when I set up games with both you and BombsAway it was around the same time, and my memory (with a 76% probability of accuracy) tells me that in both games I was the Allies first and Axis second, using the same bid. I also wiped out all my old pms, so we’re stuck with relying on my swiss cheese brain :-) Too many fun times as a younger man will do that.
I’d like to get my hands on the Axis, I can’t pretend otherwise! I have a busy weekend - being a dad means that things are busy around here - but I’ll try to set it up and get it going later tonight, or tomorrow morning.
I’m looking forward to the match again - I truly believe that our first game was one battle away from being a coin toss.
-
Sounds good. And we can say that that was what we originally agreed to! There’s no one to dispute us and so we’re both sane if we stick to the same story and agree that that’s reality. :-P
-
8-)
-
That’s the great thing about reality… :-)
