ie, you can’t take the sub hit to the destroyer and then bomber hits do not hit the destroyer. you are forced to take all the hits you can and since the bomber hit goes to the destroyer the sub hit would go to your sub.

Though if your sub hits and your bombers miss I would take the hit on the dd and submerge the sub after.
