    Which coutntries should play Defensive?
    Which countries should play Balanced?

    Type of Battles
Which coutntries fight primarily Land battles?
Which coutntries fight primarily Sea Battles?

    Which countries are Middle Class?
    Which countries are Poor?

Which countriies are medium to play as?
Which countries are hard to play as?

    For the Frequent mistake makers
    Which countries allow major mistakes?
Which countries allow many major mistakes?
Which countries allow only minor mistakes?
Which countries if you made a mistake , even a minor one it would cost the game?

And also, what is the ideal type of player for each country?

  • Playing strategy and type
Which coutntries should play Offensive? - All of the Axis, USA
Which coutntries should play Defensive? - Russia (If Germany doesn’t do a Sealion), China
Which countries should play Balanced? - Everyone Else

    Type of Battles
Which coutntries fight primarily Land battles? - Russia, Germany, China, everyone else is rather balanced.
Which coutntries fight primarily Sea Battles? - If “sea” includes amphibious assaults, US, Japan, UK

Country Economics (based on IPC income at beginning of game)
Which countries are Rich? - US
Which countries are Middle Class? - Germany, Russia, Japan, UK
Which countries are Poor? - ANZAC, China, Italy (Although they generally end up more middle-ish a few turns in)

    Difficulty Level
Which countries are easy to play as? - Russia
Which countriies are medium to play as? -
Which countries are hard to play as? - UK

    For the Frequent mistake makers
Which countries allow major mistakes? - I think a MAJOR mistake could really mess up any nation.
Which countries allow many major mistakes? - Same
Which countries allow only minor mistakes? - Russia
Which countries if you made a mistake , even a minor one it would cost the game? - Germany

And also, what is the ideal type of player for each country?

Germany - A player who prefers huge land based battles
Russia - A player who prefers defensive land battles, and absolutely no need for a navy
Japan - A player with a mind for naval war and the ability to break up his forces into smaller pieces
UK - A player who is able to think about the war as a whole instead of only focusing on one piece of the war at a time
ANZAC - Should always be played by the UK player, as it’s too tiny to be fun to play alone, and their political rules are tied together
Italy - A player who is able to balance a naval invasion of Africa with a land invasion of Russia.
US - A player who likes to meticulously plan his attacks beforehand, as the US has plenty of time to do so
China - Should be played by the US or USSR player to give them something to do for 3-4 turns while they wait to bring in their main nation. China should never be its own player, as they get very little money and can’t even produce any non infantry/artillery units
France - Should be played by the US or USSR to give them something to do for those 3-4 turns. Their capital generally falls on turn 1, and they often don’t even end up producing any units until the game is basically over anyway.

  • Germany-Medium economy, needs to be very aggressive, fights mostly land battles and medium to play as.
Russia-Medium economy, needs to be defensive, fights mostly land, and easy to play.
Japan-Medium economy, needs to be very aggressive, fights a balanced mix of land and sea. Hard to play as.
London UK-Medium economy, needs to be defensive early and offensive later in game, mostly sea battles and medium to play.
India UK-poor economy, needs to be defensive, fights a mix of sea and land battles depending on builds and medium to play.
ANZAC-poor economy, needs to be aggressive, fights mostly sea battles, and easy to play
Italy-Poor economy, needs to be aggressive, fights a mix of land and sea battles, medium to play.
China-Poor economy, needs to be defensive but attack whenever possible, fights all land, medium to play.
USA-Rich economy, needs to be very aggressive, fights mostly sea battles (especially in rounds 1-5) medium to play.
    France-

  • France-poor economy, fights mostly land battles, easy to play

  • @Weezer:

France-poor economy, fights mostly land battles, easy to play

It fights almost no battles at all after G1

  • Agreed  :-D perhaps I should have left France as I did in the first post

  • @nutbar:

I want to see a list of the countries grouped into the following categories:

Playing strategy and typeWhich coutntries should play Offensive?..…

simply put: A&A success, and the type of generalization you are looking for, do not go hand in hand. like any complex game, the better the player the less likely you are to look at any given situation through a ‘rule of thumb’ type of lens. “Russia should play defensive?” What does that even mean? Russia should play well, end of story, and what that means depends on so many different factors it is impossible to meaningfully generalize.

Well of course, but the idea is that most of the time, the Soviets are focusing less on capturing German territories, and more on preventing the capture of their own, thus being defensive play. Granted, it’s not to say “Russia should never attack someone” but generally, they’re fighting more for protecting themselves than harming Germany.
