• Well the S. Adams Hefeweizen is tasty and is sharing shelf space with some Summer Ale. I can’t find any proper German hefeweizens locally with lots of fruity notes from the yeast.

I’ve had the Blue Moon – Honey Moon (the ‘regular’ Blue Moon tastes like orange soda,) Pete’s Wicked Summer Brew and one called Locktender Lager from Great Lakes Brewing.

Curious what other folks experience with summer seasonal brews has been.

I went to a local micro-brewery last year Gordon Biersch.  As a mater of fact cystic crypt was visiting for an A&A game and a Coyotes game.  After the Yotes game we went to Biersch and got thier sampler they had a Heffeweizen there that I couldn’t finnish, that’s rare for me, the damn thing tasted like bananas!

That is typical of the ‘hefe’ style. It should taste like bananas.

Yeah, well… that’s nasty.  I’ve had others that I could drink, though not something I would pick up on my own.  But this stuff tasted like they put bananas in the keg.

  • Too much ester production could be a sign of poor tempurature control during fermentation…

  • @dezrtfish:

LOL, not to dring with the food, to drink while I’m standing by the grill in the heat ;)

When I’m baming I’m looking fo rsomething strong and dark, I’m in a cool room doing minimal activity.  If I drank some of my favorite gaming brew while doing yard work I would be in trouble.

Double Boch, now that’s a gaming brew!

Based on the typos, I would say someone had had a few when they posted the above…

And what is “baming”?  Do share this obviously wonderful hobby with us

Depending on the brew and the yeast.

Lots of esters are not appropriate for a Pilsner for instance but a Hefe should have lots of esters.

It is not out of the question though that Fish’s micro overdid it.

That’s possible, if I remember right they called it a Banana Heffewiesen, but that could be because that’s how it came out.  at any rate bleah…

Back in my Witch Wars days that was known as “The Mysterious Dude Defense” and it was always laughed at…

So… since we know that no one came in and played with your typing, I think we have to apply Occam’s Razor and say that you just had enjoyed too much of the topc of this thread when you posted  :-D

That my friend is entirely possible.  I have on occasion read posts that I have written, but don’t remember, that looked similar…

That was a Great Day . . . Shane Doan scoring in an overtime period to pull the Coyotes ahead to beat the Blues . . . and didn’t we appear in a Coyotes webpage too?  The funny thing is that we bumped into more Winnipeggers there than people from Phoenix (Phoenicians?  Phoenices?)
Also having been introduced to many a European Beer, i did not find that banana one so bad . . . Like the Leffe beer and it’s weird orange aftertaste.

LOL, yeah it was a great game, I love a close game especialy when we win ;)

    fyi Phoenician

BTY, I was whatching this show on CMT called Hillbilly Delux about the crazy things Rednecks with money do.  They showed this guy dringing Utopias in a funnel lmao.

They are meant to be drank but it does seem rather a waste to chug 'em.  :-(

I looked for Utopias on Ebay and they were going for a minimum of $250 per. That is a lot of six packs even at the price points I drink at.

I think the original release went for $100 or more.  That stuff is the Cristal of beer, fancy bottle and really expencive.

If you get a chance to buy it for the $100 bucks. I was under the impression they sell out at the brewery the day of release. They are very prized collectibles on Ebay.
