@motdc Against my typical M.O. I’ve fired off another email to Imp and Co. I’ll post here as soon as I hear anything back.

Imp Games has allowed for the removal of the registration requirements for all three of their games. Changes have been made today, now just need to work out updates to the installer and a download site.

I think I have made all the technical changes needed, but feel free to let me know if you hit a glitch: http://www.motcreations.com

@the-janus sorry to require that, but the copyright laws are pretty strict in this scenario. I could be sued if I were enabled that work to be distributed without consent given the original agreement Imp and I had.

Game rules concepts and mechanics, on the other hand, are not covered so if someone got desperate they could whip up an alternate artwork map and be able to play using that.

@the-janus If you were to get permission from Imp, I could remove the registration check from MapView for that module.

    • RE: Does anyone here know Java? I have run into a small problem that I can not fix.

Thanks Veqryn, I’ll keep that in mind.

Actually, I made some code contributions to TripleA back in the old days.  Basically responded to a post like this and fixed the map rendering so it would work on Macs.  Long time ago though…

      Cheers,

Have you worked-around this issue or are you still looking for some assistance?  PM me if this is still an open issue.

    • RE: An online WaS mapping tool - in progress

Well my work machine is an XP so no IE9 or higher for me 🙂

(And I am well aware it is an antique, but a developers machine is like an old friend, a broken in leather chair, and tricked-out car all in one.  It would take me ages to migrate to my Win 7 box).

I downloaded the latest Netbeans version a couple of days ago to work on a java MapView port.  Not nearly as cool and portable as an HTML5 map like you are making, but maybe you will share your code when you are done and I can borrow some 🙂

    • RE: MapView for War at Sea?

In the WAS forum I was trying to get some people to test out a few things, and via PM I had a volunteer start to help locate the image files needed for a module, but he disappeared.  With a little help tracking down map/unit images or making simple image files for things I could setup the same thing I did for AAM.  Back when that was active I posted directions on how to make unit images (still pinned) and I updated the modules every week as images were provided.  I also posted the completed source (xml and images) for the modules for others to help.
