I was curious about my perception about defending rolls and made an analysis.
- I ignored G1 (Just too lazy, France was bad even on the ground, Yugo was good)
- I counted all defending 2s. Ignored 3s and 1s for simplification
- I did not consider the effects on poor attack rolls, so I just counted how well Axis and Allied units defended when they could roll.
The result is:
- Axis scored 29 hits and missed 66 times which equals 30.5% accuracy.
- Allies scored 49 hits and missed 76 times which equals 39.2% accuracy.
This comes with a 6/16 AA for Allies and 0/3 AA for Axis.
I did of course ignore the 1s and 3s at this point. I scored some nice sub hits at the beginning and your cruiser whiffed against the air strike in 96
We both had our moments in terms of more or less bad disasters.
I got very lucky at Celebs and Iraq. Recent 95 went well for me
I had disasters in 55 J4 and 46 J9.In a nutshell I would say that if dice would have been average, there would be a difference of 10 ground units on the map, plus Germans had +1 bomber + 1 fig and Italians would have +1 bomber.
On the given map those units matter of course less compared to the changed dynamics those units would have caused if being on the board earlier.
So in a nutshell I am still not happy how the dice went in this game overall. I don’t claim the dice blew me up or so but I think the overall position would have been more in favor to the Axis if the dice would have gone average to this point.
p.s.: I forgot the German bomber at Tokyo, I hope you don’t mind if I relocate to Phil prior to Japans turn.

I’ve certainly had the better dice this game, but that’s not the only thing that matters and it may not even be the most important thing when measuring luck difference.

Absolutely true about the right moments. Celebs and Iraq had indeed relevant strategic impact where as most of my disasters had not.
I think in our game so far its the combination of continuous better defense rolls for the Allies combined with the nasty AA fire.
The recent Japan turn added another chapter to this.Japan suffered even most by the great defense rolls. Allies had even 42% accuracy @2 with 62 shots against Japanese attacks.
However Japan had flawless J1. Those results effect the stack of the chinese army before J2.
If I lose more units at Yunnan and Hunnan I might have been able to stack Kweichow J2 which has significant strategic impact on the dynamics in China. SO I am fully aware that the numbers alone just give an indicator and do not tell the full story.Alright, enough about dice now:) I just wanted to make sure my perception was not biased, as many people tend to forget about great dice they had and only remember the bad moments they had.

I think this was an example where the overall defense dice again sucked for the Axis, however a strategic very important battle went in their favour at Java.
