  • I just think it’s bad form to be complaining about dice in the same round where Germany lost 3 aircraft and could’ve easily lost a 4th. This coming on top of the pathetic sz110 where Germany lost 4 air. That’s 7 aircraft in the first two rounds. And you’re complaining about not getting an infantry hit or two?  :roll:

    I just think it’s bad form to be complaining about dice in the same round where Germany lost 3 aircraft and could’ve easily lost a 4th. This coming on top of the pathetic sz110 where Germany lost 4 air. That’s 7 aircraft in the first two rounds. And you’re complaining about not getting an infantry hit or two?  :roll:

    SZ110 was balanced out IPC-wise by above average results in SZ111 and SZ106.

    SZ97 was bad, no denying, 7% of that or worse and a net ~20 IPC loss compared to expected.

    Soviet attacks on Germany work out to a net ~17 IPC loss compared to expected (when you factor in that every German expected to die, survived instead) … I don’t want to appear unduly complaining, it seemed comparable to me, both monetarily and strategically (since Germany is going G1 Barbarossa, Soviet and German land units are especially important).

  • Well if you want to factor what lived but shouldn’t have, sz110 was a net loss of 58 IPC over what was expected. I should’ve been +38, instead I got a -10 result. Throw in your fighter living and you’re sitting pretty at almost 60 bucks over what was expected and this on a 97% battle.

    Sz111 should’ve been +17 for me, so I am up about 20 in that battle. Sz106 is 40% win for me at +15, 20% draw with transport surviving +2, and 40% loss of -6. I’m up in that battle 60% of the time and most of that is a big (comparatively speaking) win, still that’s +11ipc if you want to count it as such. I usually don’t since it’s basically a 50/50 battle with whoever hits first winning. But all in all Germany lost out going up against the RAF and RN by 30 ipcs over expected results. Not terrible overall, but definitely a poorer start for Germany.

    Despite purchasing 4 aircraft, Germany is down 3 air from their start. I probably should have lost about 3-4 aircraft based on the battles I’ve done and not the 7 I did lose. While German/Russian ground units are important; German air fulfills a number of roles from protecting their coast, warding off allied ships unless they huddle together, trading terr, swooping in to save Italy, strafing the med, etc. And yeah Russia should’ve gotten some kills there, I’m not disputing that AT ALL.

    But all I was trying to point out is that your complaint’s timing sucked and it was how it was worded. There was no acknowledgement of the good dice you had against Germany on G1 or G2, just a complaint that followed RIGHT on the heels of Germany losing several more important aircraft early on when Germany can’t replace them as easily. I think we’ve both been pretty reasonable in past games and I’d like to carry on that way. But your timing was like rubbing salt in the wound. But yes, the actual results of R2 acted as a salve to said wound. So at least Germany still has some momentum going, losing the air sucks but all is not lost.

    As far as Japan goes, well like I said earlier. That was almost a perfect start to Japan on J1. Losing the air I did on J2 after your own strafe with FEWER planes was a success hurt. But I won all the battles that I needed to and didn’t have to lose air to take anything on J1 - Which does happen occassionaly as my J1 is light on troops in quite a few battles. I don’t need to take Hunan, really I was just trying to put a dent in China’s infantry before you stacked them. But Yunnan, Kwantung, and Phi are all terr that I’ve sacrificed air to take in the past. I might lose a plane, but killing the associated bonuses is usually worth it. Kwangtung 11 IPC swing (+3 me, -3 you, -5 lack of UK bonus), etc. Besides, Japan has enough planes that losing a couple lessens their air power by a smaller percentage.

    So, allies up.  :-D

    IPC-wise the Axis are definitely down. Also I didn’t realize until now you sent 2 subs to SZ110 (normally if I send the BB, I just send 1).


  • With your sub in sz91, I decided it’d be best to go to sz110 with that extra sub to . . . .  wait for it . . .  lessen the odds that I’d get diced in that battle.  :roll:

    But yes, normally I’d only send the one sub with the bb.
