Even though your attack on Pearl went a tiny bit worse for me than average (+2.6 Japanese units survived, +2.2ish when you factor in that the Cruiser was dead meat anyway - and 20 IPC for Japan is not insignificant), I’m hoping that the following exchange from Classic, about 18 years ago, holds true:

I am not sure how this Pearl Harbor will influence the match yet. It basically exchanged Japanese position (planes out in wazoo) for sinking US transports.
I have to say, attacking Siam was extremely gutsy. I saw the option but assumed you wouldn’t risk it.

If you mean “gutsy” as courageous, then thank you. If you mean “gutsy” as crazy, well, then thank you again :wink: Those Japanese planes are like friggin locusts when they’re all together. I figured if I could trade them for British ones straight up, I could make do without mine. And even if you could economically replace yours easier, it’s 3 turns before they’re really doing anything while mine are ready to go on turn 2. It definitely could’ve backfired, but since you had the initiative, I needed to be a vulture :-D

Ok. So. If I don’t scramble, I have no chance of holding and you win with 10-11 units. If I scramble and lose, you win with 15-16 units.
I have a 16% chance of winning the sea battle. Not only are those the best odds I’m gonna get to save London, but if I prevent the amphib, I’ll take out about 6 planes in the first round of land combat.
And if it fails, you end up with a couple extra tanks.
I don’t see a downside.
I’m scrambling all 3 fighters. I’m also going to start going to church, because apparently my gameplay requires divine intervention… :lol:

Well, there’s only so many pieces. I’m sure if you could get 98% on both, you’d have breathed a little easier. But you have to allocate scarce resources. And it worked out the way it should have.
