I’ll start at -8 for Axis.

I figured it would make Germany’s opening a lot easier for them. I’ve already seen quite a few games where Germany takes a beating conquering France or in their attacks against the UK fleets. Then again, the UK should also have a pretty worry free Med opening. And Sealion is all but impossible with the proper purchases.
What does Axis-8 mean? Removal of Axis units or reduction of starting bankrolls? Either way, I’m pretty sure I’ll take it. I just need to be clear. Unless you’re getting tired of playing the Axis against me. I’m not picky.

I was bidding league rules for G40 in which a negative bid for Axis gives that amount of IPC to the Allies to spend.
Our last game (23 rounds) you made very tough and I’m certain it would have been an Allied victory if the US had a destroyer in range in SZ109. So you’re definitely a challenge.
If you don’t mind a post-game comment on this match, I was convinced it would be Allied victory because I thought you were going to start buying 6 US fighters for NOR/FIN every turn and keep flying them to Moscow (directly since you built an airbase for NOR).

I don’t mind at all. If I’m not mistaken, while I was building the factories I was still building in the Pacific to contain Japan so 6 fighters a turn would have been too expensive. Plus, I don’t think i would have been able to take and hold Novgorod from Germany if i had been sending fighters to defend Russia. I felt that Italy making 40+ was unacceptable and they needed to be isolated and destroyed at the cost of leaving Russia alone against Germany. I tried to get you to spread your forces out so that Italy couldn’t give Germany any help against Russia. I counted on Russia killing way more German units than they did so I could hold Novgorod long enough to take Egypt.
I thought you were guaranteed a win until you moved the Japanese fleet toward Africa. If Japan had fought for the Pacific, the US would have had a lot less money to spend in the Atlantic as I would have had no choice but to keep purchasing in the Pacific. Honestly, I thought it wasn’t a great idea to give away southeast Asia for free just for the sake of adding a few Japanese units to the Egypt defense. You’d have probably been better off trying to delay the US/ANZAC with your navy while sending mech inf and armor from India to Egypt if you really needed the help there.

A bid of negative 8 effectively means “I’ll give the Allies 8 IPC if you let me play Axis”. To counter, you need to offer me more than 8 IPC to let you play Axis.
Alternatively we could bid in the style: “I’ll play the Allies in exchange for 12 IPC worth of units” and then the counter would be a lower number.

At that point it wasn’t doing anything except saving me 2 bucks a turn by transporting 2 inf instead of building 2 mech and letting them hoof it to Egypt.
