    Russia isn’t floundering in this game. I don’t go into Scandinavia. But in this game it’s working out for you it seems. Russia has gotten a lot of money. Otherwise, I guess I don’t know what you mean. And if I hit Finland, Germany might lose a plane. I wouldn’t be surprised this game if your defenders rolled 3 out of 3 hits.

    You mentioned Romania. Perhaps in your group Russia can go into Romania? Unless I’m doing Sea Lion, never have I played a game where Russia got to get into somewhere like Romania within the first round (meaning like through round 8). And I lose a lot of games.

    But in all fairness, I think the dice that hurt me the most was not getting Philippines on J2. Japan had like 87%~ but the swing was 5 IPCs to the US. No 2 IPCs to Japan, plus a lost transport. And then the kicker was my fleet couldn’t get back to SZ 6 which I would have done to defend…ect. Than the bombing raid on Japan. All of that because of one battle lost where the defense had approximately 13% chance to win.

    Italy just got a good win, but dice swings/bad rolls with defense hitting above average (and I’m not complaining or anything, played well over 100+ games) really has many 2nd and 3rd order effects in this game.

    Philippines’ defense on J2 is going to cost Japan money spending on stuff I don’t want in order to defend SZ 6 and Korea. We’ll be going into round 4 or 5 and Japan isn’t on track to get India at all. Significant for you.

    I positioned Russia so that if you hadn’t put all your planes in Romania G2(?) I would have hit Romania.  I think I did the math so that even Italy’s couple of ground units wouldn’t have mattered.

    As for floundering…one mistake and Russia is doomed.  I checked and I need two full rounds of infantry buys before I can withstand an attack at all, but even then it depends.  Mostly its just that the UK isn’t doing didly.  I should have gotten some of their fighters over but instead no factory in the Middle East and Italy just blew up all 3 in the UK

    You’re right, though.  Its hard to actually complain since the breaks have mostly gone my way other than paying for my own dumb mistakes (like scrambling on G1 meant Italy could take Cairo).
