more or less. I still prefer being the axis. -1 inf to egypt hurts.

Axis don’t just knock both uks out on round 3 anymore. They can still do sea lion, but it is not a devastating 70-99% attack every time. UK can do attacks and still have a good chance at holding on.

There is no way to balance the game and have Italy be able to swing.

Sure there is. You just need to have the side it ends up on be determined by an investment of IPC, and whoever loses gets their IPC “invested” back.

Conceptually this would be along the lines of making promises to Italy and then if they don’t have Italy on their side, they don’t have to fulfill the promises.

Another way to do it would be to tie Italy’s entry as CP to preposterous, unlikely success against France, which would also be tied to an even earlier US entry.

Obviously it’s not easy, but to say their is “no way” is exaggerating just a bit too much.

How about no way to make the game historical and balance with an Italy that swings.

If we assume that thereis no way that Italy would have joined the CP, then I would agree with you.

Which is what we do looking at the political scene in Italy in 1915.

Funny that that game starts in 1914 then.

Fair enough, good rules though.  :-)

I just want to say, that in real life in 1944 the US produced 3x more planes than all other world powers combined. If you make it historical, you have to give the US an income of 200/turn. The idea is that it be an entertaining game and that it jog your memory of history class.

How far is Larry’s team on fixing the setup overall? Are we within a measurable range of seeing the setup being 100% agreed on? If so what is that measure?

Probably months still (meaning I doubt anything will be 100% official by Jan 1 2011).

Shouldn’t necessarily stop you, unless you want a 100% firm set of rules and locked in setup.

Probably the best strategy game that requires you to “know” your opponents, if you can still find it is Samurai Swords/Shogun.

One of the BEST games ever…  if you can still find it.

Global 1939 is really based on AA50 on sea, and on land entirely new concept ( though for some reason the AAE40 map has some bearing to mine)

Depends on the importance of Suez.  If taking this creates a major IPC drop for the UK (which it should) then the Axis needs to consider Africa seriously.

Otherwise it’s all roads lead to Moscow…
