New player here. This board generally says Sea Lion is a losing strategy because German resources are diverted from the Eastern Front, which is critical, and that the USA will easily liberate London within a couple turns.
It’s that second part about which I’m eager to hear insights. Germans have lots of air available to sink transports unless heavily escorted - and those escorts cost lots of IPCs which reduces funds for the transports - which need 2 turns to get to London stopping in North Africa.
How have you retaken London? What do you recommend?
I haven’t done Sealion in a game with another player, only in games where I play both sides.
My view:
The German air force might be heavily depleted from both the attack on the Allied navies and possibly the attack on London (anti-aircraft artillery). The Germans won’t be able to make that many new air units because they would be too busy taking on the Soviets (and they might need their remaining air units).
Generally speaking, depending on how much the Luftwaffe is used (especially if they’re used against the Allies in the Mediterranean) they won’t have enough aircraft to meaningfully threaten the US fleet (and with only a minor industrial complex in London, casualties beating the British, and resources in eastern Europe, not much can be dedicated in ground units to stop the US).

I believe that after defeating the British, the Germans should increase their assault on the Soviet Union dramatically, and dive straight through turkey to take out India, and help Italy with Egypt. That’s a lot of IPCs we are talking about. The U.S. won’t have much time to liberate the U.K. without the Soviet Union falling first!! Once that happens, axis victory will be assured, I TELL YOU!
