    I agree. The dice have not been kind to you so far.


  • I don’t think the battle in SZ14 was such a good move. A two hit BB @ 4, against a @ 2 and a @4. Basically, you’re hoping to hit both rounds w/your SBR and for me to miss w/my BB. The SBR would have been better utilized in SZ7.

    Also, the battle in SZ61 was a crap shoot. I’ve done many battles like that where the FTR misses and the DD hits.

    I generally try to get my battles at 65% or higher, unless it’s a must or a desperation move. TripleA is very well known for rolling strings of numbers, instead of being truly random. I’ve mentioned this many times to the developers and other AA players agree. The Forum dice are much better.

    Actually this is a standard move in 1942.2 if you didn’t block with a destroyer or attack mine with a bomber. On average, Germany loses more stuff than UK does, and that’s also stuff that it can ill afford to lose. Basically, you stand to lose Africa, while I only stand to lose a destroyer and a bomber. I thought about sending the bomber to SZ7 instead, but I couldn’t do it because this attack is too game changing and too good to pass up. As it is, the result still isn’t bad for me, because we lost the same amount worth of stuff and now you need to spend money in the water or lose your transport and any hope for Germany in Africa.

    Also, the battle in SZ61 was a crap shoot. I’ve done many battles like that where the FTR misses and the DD hits.

    Here the standard move is to attack with a fighter and a cruiser. The cruiser is expected to sink either in the attack or the counterattack, so basically UK would be trading a cruiser for a destroyer and a transport, slowing down Japan’s drops. I decided to try with only a fighter (still a battle where on average you lose more than I do) in order to move everything else to the Med since you failed to defend that. I changed my mind in non-combat because even though you couldn’t attack my fleet in the Med, you could have moved all your planes in a way that I couldn’t continue and would have to go around Africa anyway, only losing a turn in the process. So yeah, I should have sent the cruiser as well (and normally do), but this is because I had another plan for it.

    With all due respect, I would call that either a case of selective memory or a bad understanding of what randomness really means and I’m pretty sure the randomness in TripleA is just fine. If forum dice don’t produce strands of numbers, then I would call those non-random. Truly random numbers aren’t affected by what came before them and so just because you just rolled a 1, doesn’t mean you’re less likely to roll another. So far in TripleA, I haven’t seen anything more extreme than I would see with real dice on a table. I’m a videogame programmer, so I should know what I’m talking about here.

    The sub will fight in the first round. If you score no hit, I want to know what you lost before I make any decision for round 2. If you get only one hit, I choose the sub. If you get two hits, keep the sub and lose the destroyer and carrier, and then I want to know what you lost before I decide if I want the sub to keep fighting. If you score three hits as you should, I’ll keep the sub and submerge. If you score 4 hits, I’ll just be sad I sent the sub to its death!

    I guess I will retreat to SZ52. For some reason TripleA has the units retreating to SZ44. I will edit using Edit Mode.


  • That’s probably because you can only retreat to a territory or sea zone where at least one of your units was coming from, and you brought every boat through SZ44. Since it made perfect sense for you to bring one of them through SZ52 just in case, you can edit it to that space, no problem.

    I don’t think the battle in SZ14 was such a good move. A two hit BB @ 4, against a @ 2 and a @4. Basically, you’re hoping to hit both rounds w/your SBR and for me to miss w/my BB. The SBR would have been better utilized in SZ7.

    Actually this is a standard move in 1942.2 if you didn’t block with a destroyer or attack mine with a bomber. On average, Germany loses more stuff than UK does, and that’s also stuff that it can ill afford to lose. Basically, you stand to lose Africa, while I only stand to lose a destroyer and a bomber. I thought about sending the bomber to SZ7 instead, but I couldn’t do it because this attack is too game changing and too good to pass up. As it is, the result still isn’t bad for me, because we lost the same amount worth of stuff and now you need to spend money in the water or lose your transport and any hope for Germany in Africa.

    Also, the battle in SZ61 was a crap shoot. I’ve done many battles like that where the FTR misses and the DD hits.

    Here the standard move is to attack with a fighter and a cruiser. The cruiser is expected to sink either in the attack or the counterattack, so basically UK would be trading a cruiser for a destroyer and a transport, slowing down Japan’s drops. I decided to try with only a fighter (still a battle where on average you lose more than I do) in order to move everything else to the Med since you failed to defend that. I changed my mind in non-combat because even though you couldn’t attack my fleet in the Med, you could have moved all your planes in a way that I couldn’t continue and would have to go around Africa anyway, only losing a turn in the process. So yeah, I should have sent the cruiser as well (and normally do), but this is because I had another plan for it.

    I generally try to get my battles at 65% or higher, unless it’s a must or a desperation move. TripleA is very well known for rolling strings of numbers, instead of being truly random. I’ve mentioned this many times to the developers and other AA players agree. The Forum dice are much better.

    With all due respect, I would call that either a case of selective memory or a bad understanding of what randomness really means and I’m pretty sure the randomness in TripleA is just fine. If forum dice don’t produce strands of numbers, then I would call those non-random. Truly random numbers aren’t affected by what came before them and so just because you just rolled a 1, doesn’t mean you’re less likely to roll another. So far in TripleA, I haven’t seen anything more extreme than I would see with real dice on a table. I’m a videogame programmer, so I should know what I’m talking about here.
