Germany can build Panzers and Tigers starting on certain turns. They can only build so many per turn and can only have so many in play at one time. My question is, on turn 6 they get one free Panzer and one free Tiger. Is this in addition to the build limit? Or if you have built your limit does that mean that you do not get the free one on turrn 6?

Where do you hear that there is a limit to how many you can have and get ones for free?

From the rules. One of the guys in our group bought the '39 map and downloaded the rules, setups, etc., etc. from boardgame geek. On the set up sheet for Germany and Minor Axis, at the bottom, it says this. Also in the rules download, under German special units, it says can buil 2 per turn up to 4.

Larrie, are you sure you have version 6.1 of the rules in a .pdf file?

There was a limit in version 3.5 (on page 17) of the rules. They got rid of it for version 6.1.

My bad, it is not in the rules, but it is on the set up sheet for Germany. Toward the middle of the sheet it mentions special units and there is a build limit, and mention of a free Panzer and Tiger on turn 6.

B. SS PANZER GRENADIER: Starting on turn 2, Germany can build up to 2 of these special mechanized infantry units per turn. They attack at a +1 when paired with an artillery or armor unit.
C. SS PANZER: Starting on turn 2, Germany can build up to 2 of these special armor units per turn.
D. TIGER TANK: Starting on turn 4, Germany can build only 1 of these special armor units per turn. Tigers can move 2 but cannot blitz.
These are from the 6.1 setup. No freebies or total limit, maybe there were some in older versions.

This copy says, Armor (Special) SS Panzer- Germany can build 2 per turn up to 4 total, starting on turn 2. Get one unit free on turn 6. SS Tiger- Germany can build 1 per turn, up to 4 total starting on turn 4. Can move 2 in NCM but cannot blitz. Get one unit free on turn 6. This information was downloaded at the same time as version 6.1 of the rules so we thought that this was the most current!!!
