      Hello Gentlemen,
      I have been summoned šŸ˜‹!

      Short answer in regards to the corvettes on the reference sheet and the mention of decreased cost of 3 IPP with improved construction:
      I simply mention it there as a reminder.

      I know it’s not strictly necessary and perhaps the reminder should be removed. My desire was to reassure the players that yes, you can buy a ship with 3IPP even though it seems too cheap.

      There are new Canada rules out for GW36 v3. There was a time when clicking on the link on the rules page would take you to the CAW v3 v3.2 old rules, while clicking on the link in the expansion would take you to the new CAW v3 3.3 new rules. I think that’s all sorted now.

      As for Ottawa connecting to the SZ; I am not part of HBG so take what I say with a grain of salt; but yes. Ottawa is connected to the Sea Zone, and that’s the way I’ve always played it and seen it played in all our games.

      Agree with munck on this one. If Russia wants to lose or just sacrifice itself for the allies try this out. I take neutrals as Russia so the allies can’t get them. I’ll also attack Vichy so French don’t get their land back later. I don’t want France liberated fast I want it to be a slow attrition so Russia can take more land somewhere else while the other guys are distracted.

      Russia is separate from the allies!!!
      They only have the same enemy. It’s a 3 player game!!

      It is separate; but the Soviet’s natural enemy is Central Europe, and an enemy of my enemy is my friend.
      If the Soviet’s are being oppressed and pushed hard and need a second front opened, the Soviet’s declaring war on suitable target that the allies could capture.
      Spain or Portugal, Greece or Yugoslavia, Holland, Belgium and Denmark, all out of reach of the Soviet’s, and all landing pads for the allies to open a second front.
      Directly it does not add, or take away victory points, its purpose is to allow the allies to open a front, to land troops, or acquire IPP’s.

      Look at Portugal, if Spain is axis aligned, and the Americans need to land, Portugal is an option, if Spain is neutral, Soviet’s go to war against them, flip them to axis, but before Germany or Spain could react, the Allies land in Barcelona and Asturia-Valencia, locking the Iberian peninsula down and having an immediate front line in Europe in good defensive terrain.

      It takes axis pressure off of the Soviets, and gives them breathing room.

      Hey, just a look and a refresh at who is in the area.
      Jim001 and Rank Carcass are from Edmonton,
      FastHeinz is fairly close,
      I’m still out of Grande Prairie with a few fellows here.

      Seems like there are a few players in this area of Canada. That’s good to see!
      Me and Rank Carcass are headed out to Prince George to meet with GeneralHandGrenade and another fella on May 4-6th of Global War 36.
      I think both those gentlemen are going to YouTube stream it.

      If anyone is interested in joining and has some experience let me know! I’m from Grande Prairie area and RC is from Edmonton.

      Hey!

      When I first bought GW36 years ago, my group misread the rules and played the first dozen games with ā€œfull access to allies basesā€. Since then we’ve played both ā€œfull accessā€ house rule and vanilla rules, without significant balance issues.

      With full access, USA shuttles troops to UK quicker. But the USA lands somewhere in Europe anyway and therefore full access doesn’t affect anything.

      Eventually we settled on ā€œFull Access to Allies Basesā€ as a house rule, and we like it.
      It’s more historical, for the navy it doesn’t take the American fleet a full year to get back to America. For air forces…we figure that even if historically the Commonwealth and the USA didn’t share air bases; we assume Normandy had more then 1 air base, so in game everyone benefits.

      Man, I played one game where I exploited the Soviet rules about land units costing -1 IPP less, and Soviet Militia moving within Soviet borders.

      I saved up a lot of the Russian IPP for the first turn of war, then I bought about 50+ Militia across Russia in nearly every territory.
      I combined this and kept a little bit further back from the German border.
      The Militi became cannon fodder and I never took any non-militia casualties.
      The German push was stalled within a couple turns and the Soviet’s kicked them out shortly after, it was grand.

      The Crimson Tide Strategy. 😊

      Hey man, I’m having problems downloading it from the steam site (some bullshit about needing me to subscribe to them, however I can’t even select the button) and I’d most definitely be interested in a virtual game of GW36. If you know of any alternative, hit me up.

      Hey, chances are that its the wrong GW36 workshop, there are about 4 floating around. Some of them may be broken. Its the PP edits i believe.

      You should look into the air rules. I find it improves the game so much so that we play G40 with the Dynamic Air Rules listed on the forums and possibly here.
      It makes Aircraft cheaper and equivalently weaker, which means more of them are present, meaning full out ā€œBattle of Britainā€ style air supremacy fighting.

      Fighters represent anti-aircraft aircraft, interceptors and the like. So they are weak against anything but aircraft. Bombers are the opposite, so you need both to launch effective attacks.
      Airbases allow unlimited scramble to adjacent sea zones and territories, which makes all aircraft present cast a umbrella of defense/ air supremacy over a whole region instead of just being placed in the most likely area of attack.
      Fighters make a presence on all fronts now, making the game really really interesting.

      Japan, FEC, China and CCCP are written, but without artwork and look very bare boned, so i did not upload them.
      I use Microsoft Word.
