• Okay, I need some help.  I tried to find answers in past threads, but didn’t have much success.  I just bought a Mac computer.  What all do I need to download to play A&A online?  Everyone talks about all these different programs:  Gleemax, TripleA, ABattlemap, dice rollers, etc.  Thanks for the help!

    Hi,
If you like , we can play 1-2 rounds in this thread, just to get you started.
Let’s do Abattlemap & inhouse dice.

    Download Abattlemap from this site:
    http://frood.nfshost.com/aacalc/maps/

Make sure you can open the program, then post here when you are all set to go.

    Cheers  /Perry

  • Thank you - that would be good.  But tell me, what is AbattleMap and what are in-house dice?  I don’t know anything!
    Thanks!

Abattlemap is a map tool , which allows you to play online.
Follow the link in my 1st post, in order to install the program.
When you’ve than that , post here again, and I’ll show you how to play.

Inhouse dice refers to the built in diceroller here at axisandallies.org

If you want to roll dice (for example, roll an attack of 2 inf (hitting at 1) and 1 ftr, you’ll write:

    ;aaa 2@1 1@3;

…but replace the semicolons with colons. Hit Post and Presto - instant dice:

    DiceRolls: 2@1 1@3; Total Hits: 02@1: (3, 6)1@3: (4)

    lousy roll, probably russians  :-D

  • DiceRolls: 2@1 1@3; Total Hits: 12@1: (3, 4)1@3: (2)

  • Thanks for the help!  I’m at work right now, so I can’t download the program here, but I will as soon as I get home, and then I’ll post - Thanks again!

So Abattlemap, TripleA, and MapView are just 3 different programs that do the same thing?

    Yup!
In the same way there exist several diceroller online.
    Think the most common are:

Frood, BTW is a GREAT tool , letting you run sample battles, to see the odds for winning a certain battle.

You ever wondered the odds of winning an attack with 34 inf 10 rtl 14 arms 4 ftr 3 bmb (w 1 bb support shot) VS 52 Inf 11 rtl 2 arm 4 ftrs (with Anti-aircraft gun), using standard Order of Loss?  It is:

    24,4% attacker win
    75,2% defender win
    0,4% mutual elimination….

    again - great tool!

Abattlemap = your well-intentioned three year old kid trying to make you pancakes in the morning.

TripleA = your robot butler from Paris making you pancakes with all the accessories in the morning.

  • Triple A won’t work on my PC….

Just get the ‘Big Pieces’ for A battlemap and everythings fine… :-D

TripleA doesn’t work for me either … At least not the 1.0.0.3 version.

Mr Morden - how do you load the Bigpieces into Abattlemap??

  • I followed your link for Abattlemap, but I wasn’t able to download it.  Do you know if it works for Mac computers?

  • @Perry:

Mr Morden - how do you load the Bigpieces into Abattlemap??

    1. Save the picture as a bitmap.

    2. Then rename it  ‘ToolPieces’  case sensitive , without the ’ thingy’s

    3. Then find the mapview folder and copy it into the file called  ‘AAR.Gim’

4 . Also make sure you have checked ‘Bigpieces’ in the Abattlemap menu
At the top left it has File New Window View… click on View and then Use Bigpieces

Don’t know wheter abattlemap works for Mac
    ANyhow, try out TtipleA then:

    https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=44492&package_id=37009&release_id=610183
