    • RE: Whats the best place to pre-order A&A Pacific 1940?

      That’s the reason why I try not to pre-order but wait until the shops get it.  By the time you add in shipping to the discounted pre-order prices, it usually costs more than MSRP.  Damn shipping.  To make it worth my while, I would need to pre-order like 10 to go below MSRP.

      Also coolstuffinc.com doesn’t offer free shipping to Hawaii or Alaska!

      Ebay sometimes is cheaper even with shipping costs, but you need to hunt for the bargains.

    • RE: Beginner - Questions

      idk_iam_swiss, please try to setup the AA1942 board and play it as is, you will see by round 3 there is not enough space in Europe for all your units.  I meant small to mean that the actual territories (map size) are too small to place all your units, look at the size of the bombers alone.  I’m pretty sure that’s why IL made the map.  I could be wrong.  But the few times our group has played it that and running out of Japanese armor was our biggest gripe.  We ended up using German armor as Japanese with a flag underneath it.  Come on 8 Japanse armor?  What was WotC/AH thinking?

      @idk_iam_swiss:

      Its not “too small” for a begginer, Save your money. If you find out you like this game. I recomend getting the one coming out this december. Its going to be part of a two part series and youll find the map (just pacific) is larger than your current one. The two together will more than likely take up your ENTIRE kitchen table.

    • RE: Convoy boxes

      I hope I’m not the only one getting confused as to what is in AAP40 vs. what people want.

      Subs rule the sea!  UK needs to invest heavy in dd’s to keep the convoy zones.

      Krieghund: as always thanks for your answers! The answer is free since it didn’t meet the 30 minute guarantee.  (Just joking)

      IL: as always insightful.

      TDJ, +1 karma for the humor!

      Adlertag had a suggestion for AA50 about Russia purchasing subs in Cauc Sz to take out the Italian fleet and I think you can use the same thought and buy 2 subs in Sz 15 to take out the German Med fleet.  It’s a idea.

      TANKS ARE STRONG

      TANKS ARE STRONG

      @The:

      Gnasape, yes, that is from Caspian Sub and their papers.  😛 😄 I just had to throw that in there for effect. Russia probably needs more tanks than Germany early in the game, IMHO.

      As for AA1942, after playing against the computer on Triple A, it would appear to me at any rate, that with Belo and EUkr in German hands to begin with, those both have to be eliminated, meaning no navy there either. However, I would think after a few rounds it might not hurt to try a naval buy out. But buy lots of guys first. In '42, at least another fighter to support the other one and bomber.

    • RE: Convoy boxes

      IL or Krieghund;

      Would either of you know if you need a surface ship to hold the convoy zone or will it be like AAE where having a sub is enough?

      Thank you

    • RE: Russian Navy Build

      TDJ that’s classic.  Mr. T. says “Tanks are strong!”  Is that from the Caspian Sub paper?

      Blitz2: It never hurts to try but I would have to agree with both Dan and TDJ, buy ground forces.

      It might work in AA 1942 but not really in revised?

      EM if it’s anything like your last game against Tim, I have my popcorn ready for a slugfest.

      Jermofoot-

      I’ve seen you on the Political and General boards for several years, but not on any of the game boards.  Do you play A&A? Care to engage in a friendly game?  AA50-41 is the soup de jur these days.

      :lol:
      I do believe someone just threw down the gauntlet!

      As always, thank you Krieghund.

      Now if only you could improve on the response time!  😄  😄  😄  😄  😄  😄

      (It’s a joke just in case you didn’t get it).

      @Krieghund:

      The sequence of events on page 16 of the rulebook for combat step 2 indicate that submerging occurs before surprise strikes do.

      Krieghund, you are probably refering to AA 1942 rulebook, my page 16 of the AA 50 rulebook shows (tanks and blitzing, transports, and phase 4 conduct combat?  Where can we get the same reference in the AA50 rulebook?

      AA 1942 rulebook clarified issues but AA50 rulebook is still a little off

      Thank you in advance for your “crystal ball” knowledge.
