K right off the bat I needed more that 2 options so the “KXF Ignore Y” are pretty dumb but, like i said, more options is good. When I say ignore, I mean just watch them and not make any huge military offenses against the ignored country. Thx for input.

The Pacific route may like an attractive path, but in practice, it take much more naval investment to protect the transports.

Typical air and naval:
Germany - 5 fighters, 1 bomber. 1 fighter is usually lost in ukraine and baltic fleet is sunk by uk
Japan - 2 battleships, 2 carriers, 5-6 fighters, 1 bomber, 1 destroyer, maybe 1 sub, + any transports japan bought.

Japan starts with a much larger naval threat, and US would need to invest 50-150 IPC for a US pacific fleet to survive.

Also, the Atlantic route is shorter than you’re describing.
The typical starting route is for land units purchased in East US to move to east Canada. From there, a transport can move it to Algeria each turn. From there, transports can threaten South Europe or West Europe. US also has the option of placing a fleet in the Mediterranean Sea. That fleet can transport from Libya to Ukraine, Caucasus, trans jordan, Southern Europe, and Western Europe. A US1 buy of 1 carrier, 1 transport, and land units is a great start to accomplish this.

In the future, naybe try not to land in EE if it is deadzoned. Just take it with minimal forces and stack Karelia if you can hold that.

With what you have in the Pacific, I think you have a real shot at winning. Japan seems like they will never get a navy to compete, so they won’t be able to ferry troops over. And if you take out the Indian complex, he is going to have a real issue, having to build even more complexes, and the prime sports, i.e. near the coast, are all in danger from the USA.

If UK and US are idiots, and the Germans and Japs geniuses, the Allies will lose.

If you attack a country with ground forces, whatever ground forces you attack with are committed.

For this reason, I like to have three USSR fighters and some artillery.

Tanks are a must-have; if Germany does massive infantry push, the tanks can rush back east to mess with Japan.

Basically, I usually build a fighter, LOTS of infantry, and a couple of artillery every so often.

Of course, my Russia 1 move last night in a Warclub Ladder game makes curse real dice! I did my usual West Russia/Ukraine attack. My opponent had no extra units in Europe from the bid, so I liked my chances. And though I did win both, when all was said and done I had lost 8 of my 9 Inf in WR. OUCH!!! The dice simulator said the chances of that (or worse) are less than 3%.

Boy, do I have a huge hole to dig myself out of.

Despite the fact that Low/No Luck would have worked out much better for me on R1 this game, I still go with the real dice. But after that battle I did reconsider the choice for awhile….

muhahahaha

this tactic works well against the group i play with… they go after germany with a vengance… they retreat everything from all the corners of world for the most part and pull to the atlantic just to put a wrench in the works for germany… they buy nothing without germany in mind… its 100 % devotion… it took 5 turns last game before i felt i could even make a real run at russia because i had to hold strong while japan got going…

Edit: holding strong meant staying at 40 or above… i fell to 37 one turn but rebounded back after a little regrouping…

It is indeed moot because of LHTR, but it was precisely this move that inspired LHTR. It’s dumb for a game to be decided in less time it takes to set it up, and it’s also dumb to lose your capital before you even made a move.

Actually, this was the move that inspired Caspian Sub, and you’ve pretty much quoted their rules paper without crediting it.Â
