You’re not toast yet. But you aren’t in a great position and you don’t have a lot of time before you’re behind the 8 ball. The dice have helped, but you haven’t exactly been rolling over either. You had a great shot at my 4 tanks in E Poland due to you taking out 4 of my infantry there and in Bess. Russia is in a great position right now.
They’re about to get SBR’d by the 3 bombers in E Poland, I’ll move up to Belarus with most all of my army while they get backed up by almost 20 mech/armor in E Pol. If you withdraw your Ukraine guys, they’ll get slaughtered on Moscow’s doorstep and Moscow is doomed. If you don’t pull them back, Moscow is doomed and they might be able to escape towards the middle east. Had you pulled them back this past turn, they’d be able to get back in time and you might’ve been able to hold out for some time. Or they might’ve been enough to prevent my from stacking Belarus for a turn.
Unless you get really really good dice, Moscow likely falls on G5. Although TBH, I haven’t looked at what the odds would be if you immediately sent every available air to Moscow. You have 2 turns, so you could get quite a few there. Don’t forget though that those bombers are coming and on average they’ll do 5.5 damage each. Maybe you get lucky and you shoot some down or they do a lot less damage. So it might be possible to still save Moscow.

I took E Poland with two casualties and you held Bess with an infantry. You could’ve hit E Poland and wiped out 4 armor, not only that but that would’ve prevented me from landing my bombers there turn 2 and that would’ve meant no SBR on G3. Don’t pass up shots where you can take out 4 German armor while only losing some infantry to do it. Especially early on when Germany doesn’t have as many resources.
The other major mistake on the Russian front was stacking Ukraine. That gets you nothing of value and left your troops out of position to get back to Moscow. Stacking W. Ukraine makes sense if Germany’s not in EPol, but otherwise you need to pull those troops back to Bryansk. You can still threaten Ukraine there and protect it some from an early German take. Plus that puts you in a position to counter a German move to Belarus (run the odds against my Belarus stack if you’d moved everything but your build up) or get back to Moscow if needed. I could’ve done somethings differently like tried to take Belarus with Italy so I could land fighters/tac there.
The scramble decision in Hawaii was not the correct call to make in this game, you’ll notice that I had fighters to reinforce the carriers and I had 2 more ships to block sz26 if I needed to do so. Honestly, the dice really helped out here though, I should taken a couple more hits but the results would’ve been about the same. And I did get a great start with Japan, but the real damage in this game was against Russia.

I hope that what happened earlier does not mean we cannot play again - how many times have we played? 2 or 3? How many CAN we play during the league season?

I play the axis a little aggressively and it can catch people off guard sometimes if they haven’t seen this or a similar strategy before. Throw on some pretty good dice overall on top of that and you have a recipe for a quick axis victory. No shame in that and you’re a little better prepared now that you’ve seem this strategy when it’s humming.
Three times, 2-1 advantage me. We can play best of 5, so we have at least 1 more game and maybe 2 more games. But I have like 10 other games going and 1 more on deck that’ll be starting as soon as we finish bidding. So I’ll hold off on taking another one for the time being.

Oh and the other thing I meant to mention is it’s generally best to station several fighters in Moscow whenever German bombers are in range. I would’ve sent them anyway, but just having interceptors there can dissuade some people. And you might get lucky and shoot 1-2 down. The AB usually gives you the range you need anyway.
