Absolutely. A person that is given some liberties regarding how they spend their time at work will usually perform better in the long run than somebody that is forced to “work” for the duration. Granted, this is the case for salaried professionals more so than for menial, minimum wage hourly jobs where the worker is much more replaceable. A professional that you need to put significant resources into to make them an important, contributing member of the organization should be allowed some freedom in this regard. If their job is high-stress, they will just get burned out quicker if the stress isn’t relived in some manner.

It seems to me that it’s not necessarily the best idea to let people decide their own salaries.

A buck’n a half don’t go as far as it usta.I believe the Congressmen also have subsidies for living, food, and other basic expenses. Not to mention the “other” ways they have of making money.

Wait a second. Most of the senators in Congress are millionaries anyways, what would they need with a pay-increase?

Anyway, I think it was the Reps who got the raise mentioned. I don’t know what the Sins are earning.
But remember, even a rich guy needs to earn a living.

Good idea. I get 50 percent, plus a commission of 10 percent on future earnings. :P
