      Excuse me, unidentified moderator.

      I am sorry.

I ask forgivenesss of those who live in San Francisco.

I ask forgiveness of those kindhearted people everrywhere who are trying to extend the benefits of technology to the less fortunate.

I ask forgiveness of those who may be of alternate lifestyles whose wish is to be welcomed by all; not shunned, nor banned, force marched, isolated, ostrasized, placed in concentration camps, tortured, called names which they(after decades or centuries) ironically append to themselves, beaten, hanged, butchered, crucified, accused of treason, conspiracy, evil acts which were first perpetrated on themselves, and any other forgotten slight or mistreatment I may have a)intentionally, b)misguidedly, c)mistakenly or d)unintentionally inflicted upon my fellow conversationalists.

I was gonna say something moderatingly funny to Jermofoot. However, I realize that I can say some of this carp to people’s faces and get an honest and open response rather than…

…the irony of someone breaking the law and getting caught by someone else breaking the law, then calling the cops and getting himself arrested…

Who says “taking your dog for a walk is against the law?”
Who says “picking up your own yard sign found knocked down in your yard/alley is against the law?”

Who says (if he was wearing gloves) “a drunken idiot cannot lock himself outa his own truck?”

A Portion of this post deleted due to highly questionable content… both in terms of flame and nature of the flame.

Okay, so  the major contenders so far are(in no particular order)…

      1. TV,
      2. MS Windows(Any particular leading contender?[95?, 98?, 2000?, Millenium?, XP?]),
      3. Income Tax Withholding,
      4. Money(is the root of all evil…Error, error! Correct input required.),
      5. The _Evil_  Spork,
      6. Video Games,
      7. Lazy Parents,
        8 ) Capitalizm,
      8. Guns,
      9. Religion,
      10. Woman(though I think that falls under the “God/s” or “Evolution” category rather than a creation of MAN,
        12, 13, & 14) _________________any I missed in a quick perusal of these 5+ pages.

Jen, I see your point about TV, but Uncle Milty, Lucille Ball and “Sports Night” make me vote that one out.
My vote would lean more toward “The TV Remote”(forefather of “The Universal Remote.”)  It lead to surfing, more dictarorships of the TV viewing time and bigger couch potato(e)s.  🙂

MONEY and CAPITALIZM, are both very high on my worst list. People who ain’t got money hate those who have money. Those who do have money feel guilty and want to destroy “The System” or find some way to make up for “The Sin of Being Rich.”

I kinda like the idea of some Polynesian islands…
the richer you were the larger the stones you had to carry in your pocket.
I recall seeing pictures of some chiseled round stones that hadta weigh a coupla hunert pounds.   😄

RELIGION , Come on!  We’e discussed this many times over.  Hitler klled the Jews.  He was working on the Catholics and Protestants, too.  Lenin and Stalin virtuallly eliminated religion from the USSR(the State their religion.)  China still persecutes religions to this day.

Muslims attacked nonbelivers.  Convert or die!  Catholics attacked in retaliation, not just to regain Jerusalem(the Holy Land.)

If they hadn’t you wouldn’t have a choice today!
IF you’re gonna say RELIGION, at least say RELIGIOUS FANATICS and be specific…not just MUSLIMS…
INQUISATORS(Jesuits…see Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio), JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES(only hang with their own), those LDS(Mormons) STILL PRACTICING POLYGAMY…would be examples I’d choose.

Jen,  “Computer” was on my mind just prior to reading your note.  Frightening eh?
But I’d still go back a step and say “Calculator”…as it took away many student’s ability to CALCULATE for themselves.
I got thru Math, Geometry, Algebra and Calculus without a calculator.

Pornography usata be about 90% of the internet.  Now it’s down to less than 2%.
      _Damn!_  Just kidding…
I usta look at the Mags, but came to realize that it could be pics of my wife or daughter.  Or someone else’s wife. daughter, sister, or mom.
Pictures could be posted wifout permision, too.

Health care costs soaring for GM
Projected expense for retirees is $63 billion
      By DANNY HAKIM

      Posted: Sept. 14, 2004

GM covers the health care costs of 1.1 million Americans, or close to half a percent of the total population, though fewer than 200,000 are active workers. Not only are such costs escalating rapidly, but GM’s rivals, based in Japan and Germany, have virtually no retirees from their newer operations in the United States and, at home, the expenses are largely assumed by taxpayers through nationalized health care systems.

Compared with GM, Toyota, the industry’s most profitable automaker, pays almost nothing for health care. It employs 31,000 Americans, whom it covers with a good health plan, but the company said in its latest annual report that its future financial obligations for its retirees’ health care were not large enough to affect its profits significantly.

The United Automobile Workers union negotiated generous pension and health benefits with the American automakers in a pre-globalized era in which the Big Three essentially made up the world’s auto industry. Today, with competition global and the U.S. health care system putting the burden largely on employers, retiree medical costs are one reason Toyota’s $10.2 billion profit in its most recent fiscal year was more than double the combined profit of the Big Three.

“We’re spending more on health care and less on the auto business, and frankly that does not work,” said John Devine, GM’s chief financial officer.

The biggest challenge for GM is not so much that people are living longer today, but that medical costs are going up so fast in an era of mega-marketed pharmaceuticals and big-ticket diagnostic tests. When Pusey retired, medical spending was about 5% of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product, compared with about 15% today. Average spending per person on hospital care alone is up from $318 in 1965, inflation adjusted, to about $1,600 today.

For GM, which earned $1.2 billion last year, annual health spending has risen to $4.8 billion from $3 billion just since 1996, even as deaths and job cuts have trimmed its worker and retiree ranks and it has taken numerous steps to trim costs. The company also contributed another $3.3 billion last year to a retiree health care trust fund. Out of the total 1.1 million people it covers, GM pays health care expenses for 450,000 retirees and their spouses.

Ford Retirees to Pay Some Health Care Costs
      By Dee-Ann Durbin
      Associated Press
      December 15, 2005, Page D2

The UAW announced over the weekend that it had reached the deal with Ford, but details were withheld until after the UAW presented the deal to local union leaders. The agreement is subject to ratification by active members.

The agreement is expected to save Ford $850 million annually on a pretax basis, the UAW said.

Ford is the second automaker to reach a health care agreement with the UAW this year. Last month, General Motors Corp. hourly workers voted for a pact that requires workers and retirees to pay more for their health care.

The UAW said it will now negotiate a similar agreement with DaimlerChrysler AG.

Dearborn-based Ford reported a third-quarter loss of $284 million. The No. 2 U.S. automaker has been struggling to meet its health care obligations as its U.S. market share declines.

Ford spent about $3.1 billion to cover 550,000 hourly and salaried workers, retirees and dependents in 2004, and expects that total to rise to $3.5 billion this year.

The health care agreement is only part of a major restructuring plan Ford expects to announce in January. The company has said job cuts and plant closures will be part of that plan.(Now in Fast Forward speed.)

      @balungaloaf:

it took 72 hours after the breech of the levees for the National gaurd to get there in mass.  After the storm came many people thought the city dodged a bullet. At the last moments the levees collapsed, water was coming in quickly in the first days.  What do you do, send in troops and other people and resources while the water is rising, so they can get stuck in the city also.  _You had to wait a while, for logistics and so you dont have to take extra time saving the men who are supposed to be saving others._  Also there were so many reports of looting, gang activity and other terrible crimes going on, you had an all white

      …Insert the word “Democrat” here…
Wait! What ever happened to diversity ?!!
What happened to Democrats helping minorities!?!
      @balungaloaf:

heirarchy that did not want to go in there and get swamped by largely african amercian crowds and have to try and fend them off.  They would look terrible trying to do what they had to do, they knew the liberal media would have a hey day on such an occurance.  It would look terrible for america as a whole if you sent in some troops and trucks to the dome and they were over run by thousands of people looking for help at once.  Then what do you do, let all your equipment and resources immdediately be pillaged?  They would then fight each other for the foodstuffs and medical supplies.   Chaos.  Or do you order troops to fight back, white troops on black crowds, let me tell you that’s the last thing the powers to be wanted and they were terrified of it.  Just remember, its all bush’s fault, thats all that is said now and all you need to know i guess.

      Well said.

Didn’t some of the higher ranked states lose Electoral College delegates to lower ranked states?
Aren’t they projected to lose more delegates to Southern/lower ranked states in 2010??

I bet WS, MI & OR are embarrassed by this.

      @MechWarf:

Smart people voting for retards.  Sounds awful similar to American Idol.

      American Idol(the #1 show on tv!?!?!)…
      The Simpsons…
      et al.
I read in the paper recently that FOX is now considered the family network.

I recall fifteen(15) years ago when The Simpsons came on tv…considered by some the end of civilization!
And now they call that family tv cuz parents (who were kids and teens watching year one of Simpsons)
are now watching Simpsons with their kids! AAAAAArgh!!

Families watching American Idol(making it #1) together is evidence of

      1. inbreeding,
      2. IQ tests ain’t what they usta be,
      3. Americans don’t know music,
      4. Americans don’t know talent, and
      5. Americans are communal auto-sado-masochists.

Anybody gonna buy the winner’s album since he did that commercial for (No Advertisiments Without Agreed Upon Compensation.)?
