What’s your thoughts on the way the game is playing out? Japan looks to be in some trouble.

Yes - Japan can not win this game. You’ve done a dreat job limiting them. But Germany/Italy will win in Europe, in 4 to 5 rounds.
What I’ve learned (the hard way) in G40 is that you only have to win on one map. I just lost a league game in which my Japan was reduced to just the capital, making 8 or so IPCs per turn for the last 8 rounds… and even though I was being outpurchased by 100 IPCs a turn for a long time, I still managed to come within a turn of winning the game on the Europe map. It was a major lesson for both me and my opponent.
I’ve lost games where I forgot this is a Victory City game, and I’ve won them when my opponent forgot. Positioning yourself to take and hold VCs is everything - in the end nothing else matters.
In our game, I need to take Moscow and Volgograd and hold them for a turn, since I already have Egypt. With aveage dice, Moscow will fall on G8. Russia can not compete with Germany after spending so many resources to help vs. Japan. At this point, Japan’s job is just to hold out. Frankly, Russia can’t compete with Germany if they spend every IPC against them.

This is the first game I have played VC because me and my buddy always play global domination. With that being said I have been paying attention to the VC. I don’t think it is definately a win for you. I also don’t think that I am for sure going to win. I can see that you are in a VERY good position. I also have some ideas in order to try to stop the plan. I am mostly excited cause it is so different than the many games I have been a part of. We have played so many games against just each other that it is hard to break out of some of the “habit” moves that happen.

You’re right! It’s never over til it’s over… I’m viewing this as more of a practice type game for you to view a strategy, so I didn’t find it strange to be so open about where I see this game headed. Just trying to give very honest and open feedback.
I found the same thing you have - I played against the same guy (Infrastructure on this site) for so long (15 years?) that we developed our game against each other… and so we got a shock to our system when we started playing against people here… and we’ve both been learning new stuff really fast.
