  • Nice recovery. I’m embarassed by my beginner’s mistake at not leaving a land unit in Korea to recapture Manchuria. Good job taking advantage of it. By the time I saw it, all I could do was buy AA and hope for the best – 3 tanks or 3 fighters could take down a maximum of 3 of your air. 3 AA might get lucky and drop 4-5 or so. I figured if I was gifting you a shiny new airbase, I could at least make it sting. Alternately I thought about buying 3 aircraft carriers, slamming my staff into the ground and shouting “You SHALL NOT pass!” Decided that trading air was better for the allies in the long run. Sigh. Well played, Mike.

    At least everything on the new airbase is written in English, so it might take the Japanese a couple turns to figure out “Planes land on this long straight paved part” and “This thing over here holds gas”.


  • Thanks - it was expensive, but I did a fair amount of damage. I fear that I lost control of this game a couple of rounds ago, however. I am note sure with China about to take everything back and Russia as big as it is that I see a path to victory here, but, at least it has been an interesting game to be sure!

  • Yeah, I started counting spaces and pieces with the USSR a few rounds ago. I had more than enough pieces to wait you out if you pushed everything forward, so I figured I could just be annoying for a few rounds and make you keep spending resources on things other than taking Moscow. I think it went to script (with a few hiccups) – stretch the game out, kill opportunistically, be a moving target.

    I didn’t really want to just turtle in Moscow and hope the dice went normally; when a stack of 100 infantry rolls 10 hits in defense, it makes you want to punch a baby.  :lol:

    I look forward to seeing the last offensive of the axis and see if they can exploit any of the several mistakes I’m sure to make!

  • Awesome on both accounts!

    I’d feel worse about sucking out on some of the smaller battles (and I think TripleA KNOWS that Japan should get bogged down in China so it tilts battles that way!) if my scramble in the Channel on G1 wasn’t such a horrific clusteryouknowwhat. The dice ceratinly make every game a little different even if the strategies and execution were exactly the same.

    That’s one of the reason I bought those AA guns in Korea. I was going to lose it anyway, so I figured ah-why-not.
