  • We’ve got an issue. You took a weird order of loss for me in z110. DD, 2F that hit only once against a SS, BB – I’d assume the SS takes the hit. I’ve got 5 pips in defense that round. I’d be assuming I’d hit once and you’d soak with the DD. I’d rather have an undamaged BB going against 2F than a SS and a BB- going against 2F.

    If you would have continued the fight at that point (and that 1 hit on each side result was the most likely from the start of the battle), then round 2 of combat is still valid.

    Round 3 starts with 1F attacking an undamaged BB. Would you retreat at that point? If you would’ve retreated then I need to edit out the sub and edit in the undamaged BB. If you would’ve pressed the attack (hoping to at least tilt it at the possible cost of the F in a spot where it couldn’t be repaired until G3 off WGer), then we accept the Round 3 result and need to do Round 4 (since in the original battle you attacked in exactly that scenario in the original Round 3), with 1F attacking a damaged BB. We could use the “test server” function on the dice server to generate a die roll first for the F, and then again for the BB.

    Do you think that’s a fair solution? It’s the best I can come up with. Obviously we both have to pretend that you don’t know that you hit and I missed in what would be an attack by 1F on an undamaged BB. I have absolutely no problem believing you (and have no reason to question otherwise) if you’d continue the attack at that point, so definitely don’t sweat that- I wouldn’t question the integrity of somebody who’s been in as many games as you (obviously if you were shady you’d be hard up for opponents, which you’re not).

    So to recap:
    We could leave it as-is, but it reflects an incorrect ool. You could retreat the F after what would have been Round 2, leaving an undamaged BB in z110 instead of the sub that’s there now. Or we could use the “test server” on the dice server to generate an attack roll for the F and a defending roll for the damaged BB, simulating what would be a new Round 4.

    With a possible Sealion sitting out there, the difference between a z110 SS and UK F (currently), a z110 BB and UK F (if the F retreated rather than attacking an undamaged BB), and a battle in z110 between a damaged BB and a UK F isn’t insignificant. It’s not a for-sure game changer, but that decision is exactly the one I wanted you to have to make when I sacrificed 2 planes on the final damage phase of G1 in order to keep a SS and an undamaged BB there. (I was actually hoping that you’d take a less aggressive run at Italy in order to both sink them and keep a F presence on London, to be honest -LOL).

    sorry fortress, it was completely my fault. I should have asked for ools.

    i was being selfish/impatient and just picked what i would have done. luckily it is not that big of a hassle to fix.

    the way to correct the messed up ool is easy, we just go back to the point where i should have asked for the ool and reroll the battle from that point.

    the point where i should have saved and asked you for an ool is after i rolled my attack and got one hit.

    if you like the outcome as it is now please let me know and we will keep playing. if you would like the hit to go to the sub let me know and i will reroll the battle from that point.

  • No sweat – easy mistake to make and easy one to fix. It was impossible for you to know what I would be thinking. But at the time my thought was that if you brought the DD along to soak a hit away from the planes, that I would leave the SS there so that the BB could roll potentially an extra time and might stay alive.

  • I can’t stop laughing at how we can’t get this right. The dice ended up wrong again. The sub that I picked as a casualty never got a defending die in round 1. The dice came off 6,2,3,1,3. Those should have been, in order: SS defend R1 (miss), BB defend R1 (hit-DD casualty), F attack R2 (hit-tip BB), F attack R2 (hit-sink BB), BB defend R2 (hit-F casualty). If you want to keep these dice, I’m fine and ready to move on. If you want to re-roll, I’m fine. Whatever you decide; I just want to be done with this battle already and get on with the rest of the game.  :-)

    then i rolled the dice for your battleship defense to finish rd1 of combat.


  • You’re RIGHT! I ALWAYS forget that defending subs roll before the non-subs attack! Silly rabbit…  :oops: Face, meet palm! Thanks!! For some reason, I always think of that as a special sub ability that gets cancelled by the destroyer – because we’re not actually holding the dice in our hands I totally forget that the computer doesn’t screw up order! I beg of you a thousand pardons.
