• Does anyone do SBRs anymore?

We certainly don’t in our play group. It’s just not worth it anymore. 1) Because the benefit of damaging an IC doesn’t justify risking so many assets, especially when a damaged IC can be repaired in the first stage of your opposition’s turn. 2) The rules are so complicated now, ugh, KISS (like convoy disruptions).

  • they work well v. india in this game.

  • @MaherC:

they work well v. india in this game.

Does UK/ANZ not keep fighters in India?

  • We don’t SBR hardly at all anymore, and its pointless to SBR NB and AB’s since the max is only 6.  I SBR India however if I am knocking on the door and have escorts, its a good primer to take India the following turn.

I find subs work much better at killing India’s income.

  • It might make a huge differnce when this game is combined with the European version. SBR is usually fairly effective against Germany. I don’t think I ever used in the Pacific though (unless you count Japan hitting Russia in revised).

  • dogfighting  snd AA discourage SBRs…

you have 2 shot against the bombing raids the firs one is hitting with 2 and the second one with one it can result in an heavy damge for the attacker.

And yes… probably a good strategy is use japanese bombers against india if they are not a lot busy on other fronts.

    bye

  • How do subs deny income to India?

Dogfighting takes it toll on strategic bombing, I don’t think so.

    Fighters can’t intercept strat bombers.

  • During the escort/interception encounter, I think the bombers should be allowed to fight using their machine guns, needing a 1 to hit.

Subs deny income to India by convoy raiding in SZ 39.

Fighters CAN intercept strat bombers.  Tacs cannot.

sbr-ing is too weighted in favor of defending interceptors right now…
i mean, you need 2 escorts to equal each interceptor, plus you will need an average of 5 bombers in order to do 17.5 damage on average to a major factory.  so… if they have just 3 fighters defending you will need a rather large air-force.  (say like 6 escorts and 5 bombers)…
and in order to have that kind of air power you should probably be already winning the game… so it just becomes a win-more option

    i agree
the solution would be making defending figs defend at 1
why does defending fighter gets advantages? they already got their AA guns

  • to make SBRs more effective I add a house rule. Structures take double the damage, and if the structure reaches its maximum number it is completely destroyed and must be re-built. ex- naval base takes 12 damage, but once it reaches 12 it is destroyed.

  • @Frontovik:

Defending fighters get the advantage because attacking fighters get to concentrate on the target, while defending fighters have to spread out to cover every possible target.  If you both have 6 fighters, but the defender has to cover two ICs, the the best the defender can do is put three on each, which will match the 6 fighters that the attacker can bring to bear on either.
