    • Why is 1942 scenario so unpopular???

      The number of posts in the 1942 forum completely overwhelms the 1941 forum…Why is that so?
      Is it that we would all like to learn the 1941 game , before putting our mind into a new setup?

      But why was it 1941 that got instant popularity, instead of 1942?  :?

      Just curious. Why are YOU less interested in the 1942 scenario?

      Yes, it is the territory owner that gets it.
      In your example,  the AA goes to the Soviets.

      A long time ago, we played this totally incorrect. I think the AA went to the original owner … :roll:

      Like if the IND AA had walked up to CAU, and the territory then was liberated by Americans, the AA became British.  🙂

    • Given KGF, where & how many ICs should J build

      So, what’s your thoughts on this?

      My take on this is, that of course you’d like two ICs on the mainland. But it means a tradeoff, where you might under-utilize your existing TRNs, and you get less units on the ground (because of the 15 Ipc investment in the IC)

      We are assuming KGF here , so no Allied ICs in are being built in Asia or Africa.

      It seems that there are a lot of different thoughts out there, on how to play Japan…
      For myself, Japan has always proven to be the most difficult country to play, even since 2nd Ed.

      It’s not that Japan has difficulty to expand (Germany is far more threatened than Japan), it is just that I can’t seem to play an optimized game with Japan, as easily as I can with Germany or Italy.

      Anyhow, what to do with a Japan, in the case that US goes 100% KGF?

      Go all out on Russia - or try to disturb US through landings in Alaska?
      How heavy should you land in ALA in that case?

      I’m thinking that it might be better to go all out on Russia. But then again, I’m not exactly an expert Japan player…

      I just can’t see how axis can manage without the land forces that Italy could buy instead; it is a total of 24 ipc we are talking about (cv + ftr)

      I hate that damn Russian sub  🙂

      In my current two games, I had the following disasters happen, inflicted by the russian sub:

      • The sub entered Indian Ocean, through Red Sea. Thus preventing me from running unescorted trannies in the south Asian waters, making it necessary for me to build several escort ships, solely for defense against that silly sub (my main fleet is off at US West coast to battle US Pac Fleet)

      • On G1 my 1ca 1 ss attacks NOR, and kills the UK DD w/o loss, only to be attacked by the ruskie sub - which promptly goes about sinking both my CA and my SS …

      I’ve had it with that sub. I’ll re-write the russian setup chart next  🙂

      I vote for 13 VCs. If you get 13 you’re winning anyway, so it’s just a way of shortening the game, and the tournament.

      It is good to have some formal “closing point”, so that games do not drag on and on , even far after any hopes of winning is lost.

      What happens if we have a mutual elimination of all Combat units in a SZ, and hapless Trns sit in the same SZ?

      Attacker 1 bmb
      Defender 1 DD, 3 Trns

      First round: Both attacker and defender score a hit.

      Do the transports live?

      No, he’s correct. It’s about 66% that you will have a tech after rolling on J2 if you buy 3 tokens on J1 (and none on J2).
      It’s about 42% to get one at the start of J1.

      Right! I didn’t notice that Wodan was talking about beginning of Turn 2!
      The idea has merit, but as you point out, it gives Japan a bit of a slow start, as for shuffling troops into Asia…

      ok, don’t arrive to 66% (more like 40%, right?), but still it is an interesting idea.  🙂
      You can use an early tech over more number of turns, so better pay up that cash early.

      I would say that it leaves you rather thin for round 2. An maybe I’d advocate two dice +1 rtl, 1 inf, but either way, would be fun to try!  🙂

      Incorrect, by the rules anyway.  Each AA Gun may fire one rocket at a different Industrial Complex within 3 spaces per territory.

      If you had 100 AA Guns in 100 Territories all within 3 spaces of a different Industrial Complex, you could do 100 rockets worth of damage.

      Oh no Jennifer, it is impossible to do 100 Rocket attacks , I am afraid…
      You see - there are only 82 Land Territories on the map (+16 impassable neutrals).  :mrgreen:

      So the definite maximum number of territories you could bomb with a Rocket attack, on a single turn, would be 41. The other 41 territories on the map, would have to have one of your AA Guns on it .

      Yes - I must have won the “Geekiest Post Award”, by that answer!  8-) 😛
