    • RE: Advice to Renegade! What is on your top 10 for adjustments to G40 3rd edition?

@crockett36 I really do respect Captains position that extensive playtesting is needed before widespread adoption of new ideas.I often like the concept of throwing ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks. Here are a few things about OOB set up that bug me.
1 France falls too easily.Germany should have to use luftwaffe to be certain of taking paris G1
2 Japan is too strong.21 starting aircraft is overwhelming.UK battleship starting in sz 37 is suppoed to represent the 2 ships Japan sunk there dec41,but of course,we are supposed to be starting 1940.J1 attack is too powerful OOB.
3 Like I mentioned, after invasion of norway Germanys battleships were damaged. No operational Bismark and Tirpitz until 41.
4 Agree that red amy was determined, tough and tenasious defending russia. However,as demonstated against Finland earlier in the war, they were horrible when attacking outside their borders.I say this because I don’t think the red army could easily take over eastern europe had an invasion of UK succeeded.
5 Like in other versions of A&A,I think it should be easier(less szs across the arctic or NB in scotland)to transport units to northern russia.
      Well thats enough for now.

@crockett36 April 1940 Germans are invading Norway, losiing destroyersand getting their best battleships damaged(Gnieseau&scharnhorst)Granted they do sink UK carrier glorious.
Also Italy is not in the war.Perhaps to be more historical,German cruiser should start in sz113 and a damaged battleship start in sz114.

@The-Janus They could take out the Italian bomber.

    • RE: [Global 1940] Blitz After Attacking With No Casualties

@chrisbump86 Does the attacker have to declare on their combat move which territory or sz they wish to continue to if they succeed w/o taking a casualty? Can they split their forces and go to multiple territories or sz?Can they return to another friendly spot or even to where they attacked from?Would a matter if the attacker needed more than 2,3 or more combat rounds to kill the defender?
If we playtest, these kind of questions are likely to come up.

    • RE: The Italian playbook

@Marco-Luti Chasing 5 ipc bonuses is often a bad idea because you can get sucked in to poor and risky positions. Not worth it to lose your fleet or worse Rome.
As long as you are a viable threat in the mediterrainean the allies have to spend a lot of resources for a number of rounds to deal with you.

    • RE: US Response to Successful Sea Lion

@The-General-0 A quick US liberation of London assumes the German navy and its transports have been eliminated.Italy can throw a wrench into the allies plans as well.

    • RE: Norwegian/Finnish Facilities

@Marco-Luti Conveniently,Russia has factories that can be "ahem"liberated in ukraine,st petersburg and volgograd.Cannon fodder volunteers can be recruited there to shield your panzers for when you want to free moscow from the bolshevics.

    • RE: The Italian playbook

@AndrewAAGamer On I1 it is a good idea to take at least 1 UK territory, usually for me somewhere in east africa but maybe cyprus or malta,to deny UK their 5ipc bonus for retaining all their original territories. As well it might be benificial to let germany take SFrance G1.It gives italy a landing spot for fighters and germany has the option of building ships in the med starting G2.

    • RE: Scrambling Rule Question - Sealion

@simon33 I think we all could agree that all sealion plans are not alike.I prefer to not be “all in” with sealion when I make my G1 buy.I’ll buy all air (or maybe 1dd+2 air) and access how G1 goes and what US and UK do before commiting to sealion or not. When Italys 1st turn is underway I know if it’s a go time for sealion.

@simon33 Balanced Mod or not,if Italys 1st turn their fighters land in WGer or France with AB they can escort to London.

    • RE: The Italian Invasion of Cape Town

@SuperbattleshipYamato Italian starting army in E.Africa is too slow and too weak by itself to take Capetown. If axis is able to control suez canal and can load TTs from sz 81 (red sea) it might be doable.Another plan could be to strafe attack Egypt from Sudan+Alexandria, retreat everything including fast movers to Sudan.

    • RE: Axis and Allies 1998pc game need help

@TheGheko91 Are you wanting to make it harder to beat the AI when playing solo?
If so you can use the unit edit.Make the nation you are playing weaker by removing some starting units and/or add a few staring units to your AI controlled opposition.I find the AI will never capture 2 enemy capitals,so set it for economic victory, which you can adjust the numbers when setting up your game.

    • RE: Repair damaged carrier with allied cargo

@Panther Thanks for clarifying. It may be best not to even include a carrier with a guest fighter when attacking.

    • Repair damaged carrier with allied cargo

@McX OK so I have a slightly different question. It’s the beginning of my turn and I’m repairing my carrier containing,as cargo,my allies fighter. Can I require my ally to remove his fighter before my combat move? What if my ally has room on one of his own carriers in the same sz?My thinking is that the cargo can and maybe has to be moved when the repair is being done.

    • RE: Submarines and convoy distribution

@Axis_Powers_r_Better I don’t mean to complicate things …but in example no die roll for carrier plus each sub and each plane rolls 2 dice so that would be 8 dice total.
