@jbuckbuddy You should always use ANZAC under a different color than UK and the reason why I say this is because if ANZAC and UK attack, as long as an ANZAC unit is present, you can give that territory to ANZAC instead of UK if you wish to of course.

Plus you should keep the colors different so you can see force projection by ANZAC. If ANZAC surrenders before UK, you need to know what units are going off the board.

I’ve given up waiting for the ‘Base Set 2’ as suspect will be ‘vapourware’ - this thread highlights why - there is no point HBG printing off a unit in 10 different colours, if certain sculpts are rarely if ever going to be bought by a certain nationality (and hence bought from HBG), and that will apply for a lot of the advanced tech stuff.

Therefore bought the 3d printed versions of the Base Set 2 items I needed, so Maltas for heavy carriers etc.

My approach has been to paint up at least 1 of each advanced unit, for each major power, and then more where I think countries need them/are likely to use them in game.

So Russa can build 1 attack transport and heavy carrier before I’m stuffed, but America has 3 sculpts of each of these units (for example)

@HBG-GW-Enthusiast There actually is a reason to have different colors—at least for ANZAC troops. ANZAC has different surrender conditions from FEC and the UK (FEC surrenders when UK does). You could be in a situation where you have both ANZAC and UK/FEC units in the same territory, but ANZAC is forced to surrender. This means you should have a way to differentiate these troops, and the easiest way to do that is to have different colors.

It doesn’t hurt to have one of each because they can also receive lend lease from the Americans. It just gives you that option.

I use British units for ANZAC and paint them.

Historically, the type of agreements countries made during this time included:
-Diplomatic Relations: Before countries could negotiate treaties, they had to establish diplomatic relations in order to facilitate any agreements between the two nations. Diplomatic Relations could also be broken off (like many South American countries did with the Axis powers).
-Mutual Defense Pacts: Two or more countries agree that if one is attacked, the other will come to their aid.
-Treaties of friendship: These treaties express friendly diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries, though doesn’t necessarily mean mutual defense in the event of an attack by a third country.
-Trade Agreements: Trade of resources and/or capital.
-Non-Aggression Treaties: Two countries agree not to go to war with one another.
-Spheres of influence: Countries agree to partition a country, or region, into “spheres of influence” where the territory is divided between the two nations.
-Allied Conferences: The allies held conferences throughout the war to coordinate their war efforts.
-Intervention in Minor Wars: Powers would intervene in small wars around the world, supporting one side or the other.
-Appeasement: They would allow concessions to territorial expansion of certain powers.
-Embargo: Countries agreed not to trade with a third party.
-Governments in Exile: Conquered nations often continued the fight by moving their government to Allied occupied areas (usually London).
-Puppet States: Conquering nations would often set up Puppet regimes loyal to, and controlled by them.

Something that can change hands should remain as a generic colour for all.  There’s enough stuff to do without having to swap out different coloured factories as well!
